A beautifully bred animal who will make a great sire if he can win back to back Group 1's. The best mile and a quarter horse I have ever trained will no doubt come trotting out if he wins on Saturday. Laugh

Support has continued for Rip Van Winkle today with Ladbrokes forced to cut him from evens to 4/6 for Saturday's Irish Champion Stakes.

The firm have also eased out Twice Over to 3/1 (from 5/2).

Hayley O'Connor of Ladbrokes said: "We've pushed out both Twice Over and Cape Blanco for the Champion Stakes this weekend but as it stands, there's not many takers while support for Rip Van Winkle continues."

They take a hell of a lot more bets on the day than they do ante post. There will be a degree of support, but not enough for it to be 4/6. They do that to halt many bets until Saturday and protect the potential gambles on it. The bookies also said there was a massive gamble on Workforce for the guineas and it didn't even run, amongst other bull **** gambles.

The Champion Stakes is in October - I haven't seen a market for it yet.

the Irish Champions Stakes is on sat & despite what this idiot says RVW has been well backed and will win

there is an easy calculation regards value in this race. I agree RVW should be a favourite and has a slightly better than evens chance of winning. However Twice over has improved and ran his best ever race last time. RVW has done no work since York and this race was a late decision. The ground will be quite fast and the race tactical, and RVW has been called a few names before.

last time they met RVW won all out by not at all far, and the slightly shorter trip is sure to suit Twice Over. I just don't see this is a 4/6 on shot against a 4/1 shot, not at all.

Good luck to odds on backers but its not my idea of risk free dosh, not by a long chalk.

if its a truly run race I think Twice Over will turn York run around

I see it differently mate. If it's truly run i see RVW winning by a better margin than he did at York.
