Owners keen to run him in the Sprint.
Trainers championship another possible factor ?

Paco Boy has a good turn of foot but with the ground likely to be quick he surely won't be able to go the pace.  Couldn't win the July over a stiff 6F and this is quicker.  SSB doesn't look likely to turn up and we all know Regal Parade needs cut.  Could be a shock which is usually the norm for this race.  Markab e/w @ 16's for me.

Hope he doesn't ride him like he did in the July Cup.

If SSB and Paco Boy do not turn up.. surely Equiano will have a decent chance...?

He didnt run well lto... but the draw could have been a factor... worth considering this time round.

You have to admire Corals for once again taking a real position on this race - rather as they did with the Nunthorpe consistently opposing SSB.

Barrington Hills' are not winning with enough regularity at the moment imo to be fancying Equiano, even if he is a class act.

Interesting shout Downallstar. Had some great form as a 2yo, including a thrashing of Sole Power! Cool

Well worth a go at that price.

Its been sunny, windy and dry for 48hrs but the ground is still gd with gd/sft places on the straight course.  Find that very hard to believe.  Anyway its dry for the rest of the week which will surely see Paco stay at home and Regal Parade will be a drifter.  A lot of decs look likely.  Maybe 15 runners.

When people say paco boy doesn't truly stay a mile they just mean they think he's better over shorter. I think his best trip is probably 7f, but would love to back him over 6f if he's priced up to run below his mile form. The july cup he ran in was a slowly run race with a tailwind and he had no chance from where he was positionedif i remember it right. Be a different story at haydock i think whatever the ground.

Paco is a top-class 7f-1m horse on decent ground. Period.

Can't see it shunning the Moulin for Haydock, but if it does it's a lay. Granted decent ground, it's top of the list at Longchamp.

I'm with dan hardcore: too many people have knee-jerk reactions to performances from racehorses (and I count myself in that group too) and sometimes its best to reflect a couple of days later. Judging by the results of the top-end sprints this summer, there is no truly outstanding horse in that division. Starspangledbanner is good, but he was beaten fair'n'square LTO at York. OK, the ground there was dodgy, but SOLE POWER took nearly 2-lengths off him in a matter of strides between 200-300 yards out, and wasn't coming back. Personally, I think the groundstaff at York need a good kick up the back-side.
Its a shade disappointing he's now missing Haydock as I think Paco Boy has immense speed.

I disagree I think a mile race is fine for Paco boy... so many times he has proved ppl that he gets a mile, but continues to get criticism for it.
He came 3rd lto when the ground did not suit... he has been closely matched with Goldikova on his previous runnings... and he doesnt stay a true run mile?

I think 6f is too short... so glad he is out of the sprint race.

Exactly. Moulin - right call (IMO).

Paco Boy was outpaced in the July Cup. It is as simple as that. He is not a sprinter. The time of the race was fast. 0.07 off Stravinsky's course record. It was not a slow run race.

Many of those that backed PB that day won't have it. So they will have to learn the hard way.

Do reckon Hughesy would like a crack at 6 on him.

By the looks of things those of us who think Paco Boy will be just as good over 6f are not going to get the chance to "learn the hard way"

Unfortunately.
