Bensalem the nose band seemed to do its job at cheltenham but he fell on the down hill fence after jumping it well.
think he has a great chance if entered.

The horse I like, wants good ground. So I doubt he'll run, unless we have a dry Autumn.
I like Mouse Morris' China Rock, but I don't think Mouse likes our handicapper, so I don't know if he'll come over.
There's Burton Point, Pandorama, and others. Who knows who'll go for the race yet.

i heard the general feeling is to keep kauto away from haydock this year as he doesnt race at his best there and there going to race just the three times this year : down royal, king george and cheltenham. there is talks that denman will be replacing kauto in the betfair chase at haydock this year and missing the Hennessy.

either betfair chase or leopardstown ireland will be his first race.

Diamond Harry has to have a great chance. Beat Burton Port 2 1/2 lenghts on the bridle on soft ground in the fixed brush hurdle at Haydock last November giving him 15 lbs and was rated 156 (the same as Burton Port) before the Sun Alliance which was never going to be his race. His soft ground form on flat left handed tracks before Christmas is top class and the race looks made for him, especially if Denman stands his ground to keep the weights down but I'd fancy him anyway.

His future is over hurdles, he was a top class novice that possibly finished 3rd in one of the best novice races that you will ever witness over hurdles.
I adore DH but he has never appeared to be a chaser in my book.
I still think over hurdles he can compete with the best over 3 miles. Nothing wrong with finishing placed in the world hurdle imo.
Bensalem is the obvious choice, i watched his jumping through a microscope and over he was not a horse that could not jump. He never made a mistake until the run in at the festival ( the last 3 fences) .

The theads for the horses that amuse us through the winter months are getting popular - fair enough.
Myself I cannot wish away the flat and real horses that quickly. The thought of all those months watching failed flat horses with no grillocks, demolishing fences, breaking down or expiring with awful injuries, and generally making a mockery of the true sport of horse racing is no joy at all to me.
Mind you.... come on Somersby!

I saw Diamond Harry win over fences at Haydock and he can jump OK but just don't think he really likes Cheltenham and the ground in March isn't right for him. If we get a wet autumn, I'll be fancying him, he jumped the fixed brush hurdles no problem and there won't be many better handicapped than him. Look at how novices run in handicaps now. By the time the Hennessy comes round they've all either blown their mark or are no good.

Neptune Collonges is back in work and PN intends running him if he keeps going in the right direction.
That's not to say Denman won't be taking his chance again.
If Denman does turn up.
Bergo won the QA at Royal Accot over 22f so I would imagine the 3 miles over jumps would present no problems.
AP MCoy will no doubt take the mount if he's free and should be as the only possible runner JP or Jonjo would have it Don't Push It and that won't happen.
Could be worth a bob or two when the betting comes out.

Weird Al rated 152 at the moment, it may get in that race.
Other horse i like is Invisible Man, rated 135 atm after two big distance wins. Trainer said it would go to Cheltenhams November Festival/

Id be astonished if Bensalem was ready for this. Gutted as I thought he had a great chance off his handicap mark!
Let's just hope for all he recovers and gets to see a racecourse again.

I think Weird Al could be well handicapped - if it had run in the RSA would he be off 152 now?
Although if Denmans runs he'd be out the handicap, and that then brings me to What A Friend. Only 7lb higher than when second last year, despite winning 2 G1 since the Hennessey.
If Denman ran, WAF would carry 10 3, 1lb better off than last year, but as a 7yo, open to more improvement.
Although for some reason i can't work out, i've never been keen on the horse!!
