Hungary: Unbeaten Hungarian sprinting sensation Overdose is to have a ‘home fixture' in Budapest before travelling further afield once more.

The five-year-old made a successful return to action in a Listed race at Bratislava earlier this month after a 15-month lay-off with a serious foot injury.

He will now run in a specially designed race at Kincsem Park on August 15 before attempting to win the Group 2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden for the second time two weeks later.

Owner Zoltan Mikoczy explained: "Overdose came out of his comeback run very well and is in good form, but all the team feel that we need to get one more race into him to prepare him properly for Baden-Baden."

Overdose recorded his 13th successive victory at Bratislava earlier this month under Gary Hind, who is now based in the Czech Republic.

Mikoczy added: "His Bratislava run was highly satisfactory, considering how long he'd been off the track, but that form on its own would not be enough to play the role at Baden-Baden that we would like.

‘The timing of the race is perfect, as it still leaves us with two weeks before the Goldene Peitsche.

"It will be a new race, run over five furlongs, specially designed by the Hungarian racing authorities, and it will be a great chance for all his Hungarian supporters to see him.

"It is likely to be his ‘Goodbye to Hungary' as if all goes to plan it will probably be the last time he runs at Kincsem Park as we will be campaigning him in Group races abroad."

Mikoczy said that either Christophe Soumillon or Hind would take the ride.

"Christophe Soumillon, who rode Overdose to victory in Budapest in April 2009, on his last run before injury intervened, may be at Deauville that day," said the owner.

"If so, Gary is a real professional and last time he gave Overdose a great ride and looked after him well in Bratislava."

should never have ran unshipped soumillion 3 times before the start and was bucking and kicking trying to get him off.
the jock after about 10 minutes went into the stalls himself and they then bundled the horse in.
still on track for paris imo.

should never have raced after he played up like that.

maybe they should try him on a more sympathic surface...nice tapeta at Meydan. over there it gets so hot the tapeta melts and the surface rides slower. might like getting his toe into that.

Thought he travelled well enough early on to suggest he retains some of his talent. As said his antics would have affected him when it came to the finish.
