Does anyone know what's happenign with this horse? Is he injured?

He is huge price in ante post markets, so i'm guessing there is something wrong?

Not heard anything.

I thought he was a huge price for the Arc earlier in the season and backed him to small stakes. Was a bit surprised that they stepped back in trip for the Jean Prat but that was a miserable failure.

He won the Prix du Jockey Club over 10.5 so surely the Niel is next?
That 200 there now could look massive in October.

Tav....got a funny feeling Snow Fairy could run in the Prix Neil (fillies can run in it but all the good wons go to the Vermille)...its the only win and you're breeders cup race for 3yr olds this side of the atlantic and I know dunlop really wants to go but has to convince the owners to supplement her but thats going to be pretty big for the BC.
Report JOSE93 • July 29, 2010 12:31 AM BST
As if Snow Fairy wouldn't get into the Breeders' Cup anyway. I can't think of one Group/Grade 1 winner who's been in effect balloted out by the entry system.

The Niel a G2 is win and you're in?
Wow didn't know that!
What about the Lingfield(?) and Dundalk races this year? are they still there?

Think Jose is right re: Snow Fairy, she'll get in pretty much every race if pre-entered. You'd have to assume the Turf most likely.

I don't see any filly ever going for the Niel when the Vermeille is a G1!

I need to brush up on BC entry rules. Have programs for the last 3 years here somewhere that I must read... (I didn't go, my friend who has no interest in racing but is a cameraman brought them back for me Sad .. he was filming George, Henry and Rip)

checked the breeders cup site....wierd. the only 2 are the Prix Neil and the Champion stakes.

just a wierd theory i had cause Dunlop was moaning about supplementing her.

if she wins one of the Win and Youre In races, owners will still have to pay the supplement.

So Lope De Vega is fit and well as far as anyone knows?

I assumed he must be injured to be such a big price for the Arc.
Report MickInGoldersGreen • August 5, 2010 11:34 PM BST
me thinks..... the horse is a huge price for the Arc because he simply will never get the trip - owners/trainer said after prix de jockey win he would not get 12f.
His last run was a huge disappointment - backed him big and was gob smacked with his performance - not sure waht went wrong that day- he may indeed have a problem but I would be wary of taking any price on him for the Arc........just mho.

Supplementing him is money down the drain has no chance of even getting placed.
Report cryoftruth • September 28, 2010 12:32 PM BST
I generally agree with your last post A-T.

However its interesting that his best performance on ratings was over 11 furlongs on soft going, so I am not so confident as some that he won't stay. He looks like he will stay, will like the ground, and since Fabre is not known to be a complete idiot, he is likely to run pretty well too.

Writing off horses trained by Fabre for the Arc, perhaps especially one he has supplemented, sounds dangerous to me.

Still don't personally think he'll win though.
Report Graeme83 • September 28, 2010 12:33 PM BST
Regardless of whether he gets the trip or not, you'd be pleased if you took the kind of price TJ mentioned. Would they really supplement him if the trip was so far out of the equation ?
Report A_T • September 28, 2010 12:38 PM BST
Andre Fabre being the trainer is the only thing that might persuade me that it could finish in the first 5.

I thought my ante post money was gone on this chap..At least i may get a run for my money now..This has been matched at 1000 oi oi the curse of the betfair 1000..

his last 2 runs were non events if he ran to his form in the french derby he would be a massive danger to all.he destroyed planteur that day and ran like he would get farther.
Report Viva Pataca • October 2, 2010 10:53 AM BST
Of all the runners in the Arc on Sunday, Lope De Vega's French Derby win was the most impressive to my eye (and that includes track record holders at Epsom, all the way Irish Champions and Japanese raiders flying up the rail in their Guineas). It'd be interesting to know what the speed figure gurus make of his chance based on his two French Classics?

Obviously, something went amiss afterwards and even with Fabre, there's a strong chance he won't have back to his best, but if we knew he did, then he'd surely be a lot shorter in the betting, even allowing for stamina doubts.

He has to have a major chance if in the same form which saw him the Guineas and Derby.
Report jonjon • October 2, 2010 11:52 PM BST
Apparently he was going to be retired after his no shows this year.  Fabre always said he was an extremely nervous horse....he sweated up badly for his french derby win yet still put in the best 3yo performance this year.

Supplement is a massive surprise but him winning wont be.

Fabre wastes less time than Stoute for Championship races so if he wins it will be like being told directly.

He is the only other horse ive backed apart from Fame and Glory.
