KALDOUN KINGDOM
Loves it here at York; And while he comes into this on a stiff mark, he did win off just 2lb lower in March and Lee Topliss takes 5lbs off his back. No reason why he can't be a major player here if ground doesn't dry too much.
DAMIEN
Has the class to trouble some of these if showing his best form and creditable 7th in Grp2 here in May. But chances are these big field handicaps aren't to his liking and needs to step up if he's to take a hand in the finish.
IVER BRIDGE LAD
Has been running really well of late since the application of the blinkers and has posted three solid efforts. Strange to see the blinkers left off today and is now on a stiff mark in against some tough older sprinters.
TOMBI
Would have a major chance here off this sort of mark normally, as he often runs well at York. Has only beaten one horse home in his last three starts though and enthusiasm may have dropped for the time being.
HITCHENS
More than capable on his day in this grade and has a touch of class when getting his conditions. These sadly not one of those days unless the ground dries significantly and more likely an end of season race is waiting for him to win.
INGLEBY LADY
Looked mightily impressive when landing 6f sprint here in May and not disgraced since. Up 5lbs since that May win but remains capable of further improvement and deserves respect back on flatter track that is more likely to suit.
LOWDOWN
Improved leaps and bounds to land last two contests, including last time out in the Scottish Steward's Cup. Up 9lbs here and unlikely to get things his own way again; Frankie booked, but will need to be much better to take this.
PARISIAN PYRAMID
Has enjoyed life at his new stable this term and is on the upgrade after taking two of his last three starts. A 5lb rise for latest win looks fair and, having course form to his name, can go well again.
DAMIKA
Seasoned handicapper who always gives his best. Has been in tremendous form so far this season and still way below his best lifetime mark. Recent second in muddling race may flatter and faces tough opponents today.
SINGEUR
Threw in a shocker last time after showing real promise in hot 3yo contest here time before that. May struggle against some gritty sprinters today off a mark fairly high for what he has achieved so far.
SONNY RED
Highly frustrating individual who often finds something in the race to beat him. Three out of four career wins have been under Richard Hughes; he is absent today and 5f with a bit of give more his arena.
VALERY BORZOV
Flew from the gates and was never caught here last term off 3lbs higher; so claims off this mark there for all to see. Hanagan/Fahey can do no wrong at this track but last two wins on Soft or Heavy a worry with the ground drying.
TAJNEED
Another who would ideally like some cut in the ground; he has ran some crackers this season so far. Finished 5th in this last season off 1lbs higher and fair EW claims for sprint king Dandy.
NOVELLEN LAD
Looks to have taken his form to a new level this term after explosive debut win and creditable 4th last time out in Ireland (bit to find with Hawkeyethenoo). Will appreciate the drying ground and can post another solid looking effort.
TIDDLIWINKS
Shows greater gusto on the AW than the turf and never finished above 4th on grass. Hard to see him collecting first turf win in contest as hot as this and probably best watched today.
SEA OF LEAVES
Quirky filly that shipped her jockey mid-race last time out at Musselburgh. Form last backend would give her a chance here but hard to imagine there aren't one or two better off in this today.
HAWKEYETHENOO
Only 3lbs higher here than when flying home in the Epsom Dash and has Fallon in the plate to assist today. Latest effort can be ignored (injured back in stalls) and no reason he can't bounce back now after a weeks rest.
SUNRAIDER
Impressive winner of a small Haydock handicap on latest start; but this his first major test in against his elders. Clearly talented but will need a step up once more if he is to trouble the leading players.
BALDEMAR
On mark just 3lbs above his Bronze Cup winning one and 1lb below encouraging 2nd here in May (Ingleby Lady won). No forlorn hope in this; interesting jockey booking.
STAR ROVER
Very speedy sort who recorded a win on his only visit to the track last August. This 6f likely to stretch his stamina a bit and probable he will set the race up for a finisher
SUMMARY
A mouth-watering contest is on the cards in this ultra competitive renewal of the Sky Bet Dash. A case could be made for almost the entire field and any selections should be taken with caution. That being said, the vibes are that Hawkeyethenoo is a special animal and he is the tentative pick in a tight affair. His run last time at Hamilton could not have gone much worse after he injured his back when getting upset in the stalls. He seemed to flounder in the ground a touch there that day and a return to a flatter track on better ground is sure to suit. Having Fallon on his back will hopefully settle him down and a better showing is on the cards. Of the rest a handful have major chances in the shape of Kaldoun Kingdom, Ingleby Lady, Novellen Lad and Baldemar. But it’s Parisian Pyramid who could be the each way value in the race. He is at the top of his game right now after a difficult 3yo campaign and comes here off the back of a good win at Windsor. A 5lbs rise might not be enough to stop his improvement and his price looks tempting.

I think at 14/1, will have to side with Ingleby Lady. really impressed with the style of her york win. and back on the same track think she could be capable of another big run
I really believe Tombi has been laid out for this race. Been running over 5 and 7 on tracks that won't suit and now back to a flat track over 6f with a great course record. Tombi will run way better than 33/1 and I've been theiving bets on ew all afternoon on this one.

It was quiet on the sprinting front for a few weeks but they are back with a bang now, so it's exciting times! I've been updating my site with these write-ups while the less high profile sprints have been going on, so that's occupied me. Always enjoy posting my previews here though; Especially when it's these headline events

It'd be nice to drum up some interest from racing publications at some point if it was possible. Just to see how my thoughts and ideas come across to those in the media industry. But for now it's a decent little site to collect all my views in one place. Never wanted it to be flashy or anything. Just wanted it as a place for people to see my thoughts on racing and for people to enjoy reading the sprint previews aswell. Hopefully it's served its purpose.
Oh and Plat, Ascot race is now up!
It'd be nice to drum up some interest from racing publications at some point if it was possible. Just to see how my thoughts and ideas come across to those in the media industry. But for now it's a decent little site to collect all my views in one place. Never wanted it to be flashy or anything. Just wanted it as a place for people to see my thoughts on racing and for people to enjoy reading the sprint previews aswell. Hopefully it's served its purpose.
