6.50: Savaronola acted like a complete and utter headcase throughout the prelims and drifted badly. Cast of Stars was punted again and was just defied by Blue Tango - who looked superb in the paddock. The first time visor did the trick as had to be explained to the stewards later, when I phoned to back it I had to chase it from 11.0 to 9.2 to get on, what a coincidence....
7:20 Interesting Novice stakes ruined by Magic Casement's withdrawal, after looking great in the paddock and behaving like a veteran up to then, Eucharist is just a little thing, but the evens with MC looked like finding money in the street 5 minutes later. I backed MC. King of the Desert found his stride late on and will no doubt find a race or two, he looked far from fit for his debut.
7.50: Won in a hack canter by Butler's hoss with Hayley up. Affinity, who I backed, was given plenty to do by Eddie Ahern, whether good enough to beat the fav, we'll never know. In Your Time from the Stoute stable came in for a bit of support, surprising as he also looked plenty big enough. I would imagine he'll miracuously become fir for his fourth run.
8.20: Spice Fair acted badly in the preliminaries, pulled on the way to the start and failed to settle in the race, and won. He'll surely win more races of this ilk if settling better. Tuscan Gold looked tremendous in the paddock, and was ridden as if a Rolls Royce by Sanders until finding trouble 2 out. If I could have taken one horse home last night it would have been him, although my hotel in King's Cross may have had something to say. He'll win races, but at short odds, no doubt.
8.50: Bohemian Melody stood out in the paddock and in the ring. Good ride by Buick to pick up Ghostwing late on, with the Jarvis horse fading after disputing the lead with Ghostwing. Thanks to Betfred for refusing me a bet at 7/2 earlier that day, and when faced with 13/8 I kept my hands in my pocket.
9:20 I was at the train station by this time, but had a little bet on Eager To Bow at 7/2 in the morning (reduced to 3/1) so was quite happy to hear JC getting it home on commentary.
A pleasant night, some decent results, and a good atmosphere. I'd go back.
Bohemian Melody was impressive for me, should win again soon.
Did you go in the Panoramic restaurant johnn?
cgullman - any 'antepost' footy bets for the upcoming season please?

went a few times late 80s and nineties for the racing post chase day and a couple of times for Boxing Day,
the year that Antonin won the racing post, 4 of the winners on the day went on to win at the Cheltenham festival
