Unbeaten sprinting sensation Overdose, off the track for fifteenmonths due to a foot injury, is set to make his long-awaited return to action in a 5f Listed race in Bratislava on Sunday, where he will be ridden for the first time by British jockey Gary Hind.

"The horse has told us he is ready to go," said owner Zoltan Mikoczy.  "He is in good form but I am still nervous and apprehensive because of the long-lay off."

Mikoczysaid that he had chosen Bratislava for the 'Budapest Bullet's' return to racecourse action, in preference to a Listed race in Naples.

"‘He has already won there twice and it is less far for us to travel. The ground should be fine for him as they will be watering. It will be a difficult race - he'll be taking on some of the top sprinters of central and eastern Europe, who will all be race-fit, whereas we are returning from a long lay-off.

"Depending on how he fares, we will think next about either running in the Nunthorpe at York, or in the Group 2 Goldene Peitsche at Baden Baden, which he won in 2008. But we need to getSunday over with first before we plan anything."

Gary Hind, who has ridden over 1,500 winners in over 30 countries and is now based in the Czech Republic, spoke of his delight in taking the ride on a horse who has won all twelve of his career starts, and who also ‘won' the voided first running of the 2008 Prix De L'Abbaye.

He said: "I'm chuffed to be riding Overdose. He's coming back from a long lay-off, but if can run anywhere near to his old form then he would have an outstanding chance."

Hind also rides Flying Champion for German trainer Mario Hofer in the Slovakian Derby on the samecard.

bounce factor could make him a very good lay price 2nd time out

Although I'd love to be wrong, I'd be surprised if Overdose managed to recapture his very best. I'd have thought sprinters would put more stress on their bodies than other horses, and the likelihood of repeat injuries would be higher. Let's hope not, because from everything I've seen on video, this horse is a rocket, and I'd love to see him (at peak fitness) up against the best around.

Is there anywhere to watch a replay of Overdose's race today?
