A Cheltenham gold Cup, one of horseracing's most famous trophies, has been stolen.
The trophy, which is made of solid gold and worth around £10,000, was taken from an address in Wormington, Gloucestershire.

In the same robbery horseracing medals the 'Challenge Cup' and 'Britannia Handicap Cup' were also stolen.

Other items to go missing were bronze ornaments in the shape of a hare, a spaniel with a pheasant in its mouth and two horses being ridden by jockeys.

A dark wooden clock with gold sides and a gold mechanism, two silver trophies, a silver fisherman ornament and a cigarette case went too.

Police believe the combined value of the awards is over £150,000.

A different Cheltenham Cup is awarded at the racing event each year but it is not yet known which year's cup was stolen.

Investigating officers are eager to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Wormington area overnight.

Anyone with any information about the burglary is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 090 1234.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
