cryoftruth hello to you, I hope all is well with you my friend and that you're still firing in the winners on a regular basis 
The festival in York in August is an occasion that I know you enjoy and the Ebor this time around is likely to be a typically tricky puzzle to solve.
Last year I thought the answer was clear and that Changingoftheguard would go ahead there and win it. To this day it brings a tear to my eye that he went so close there and what a great shame it was that he died not long after he arrived in Australia. A grand fellow he was.
This year it looks a harder task for Ballydoyle and probably those horses that make the trip to York will do so on their way to the Leger in England or at home in Ireland. I guess there are two candidates that fall into that category.
Mikhail Glinka ran a superb race in Ascot there the last day and he was a much deserving winner of the Queen's Vase over a trip that I though might just be beyond him. He's a Galileo out of a Mark Of Esteem mare and 2 miles looked ambitious based on that, however he won it showing what a gritty and determined performer he is. It's great to see that kind of attitude from a 3YO colt and this is encouraging in the context of his future career. His trainer has come out and said that the English Leger is the likely target and often they send them to the Ebor on their way to Doncaster. I think he'll run a cracker in York if he takes his chance in your race there and he really is a class act. I know you enjoy your parade ring visits cryoftruth so try to get a look at him if you can - he's a beautiful looking individual in every respect.
The fascinating one for me for York and the Ebor is Flying Cross. He's a Sadler's Wells colt by Ramruma and in that regard he is a beautifully bred individual. I recall his Maiden win in Navan back in October when he did it superbly well and finished his race over a mile there in the manner of a colt that would get much further in time. He's been off the track since that time but the one thing I did hear about him was that they're looking at the Leger in Ireland as a possible target. With this in mind it would make sense to get a race into him if he's fit enough and the Ebor looks a possibility. No doubt whatsoever that he's got a massive amount of ability this fellow but what a huge ask it would be for him to come out and win an Ebor on his 3YO debut! These kind of things don't happen .... do they??
The one thing I'm certain of my friend is that it'll be another cracking renewal in 2010 and I hope you manage to solve the puzzle. Knowing you, you will. Having come within a head of taking the race last season I hope that one of the contingent from Ballydoyle can go one step further and win it this year.

Yes TDG absolutely delighted to see her make a winning debut, and in the style of a smart filly. Clearly she'll come on for that.
George was a beautiful fellow and his Guineas win will always be one of my fondest memories of a day at the racetrack. A real tragedy that his stud career didn't work out, and equally so the way things ended for him there in the USA.
A fitting tribute to him if this young filly turns out to be something special and I really hope that she is. It made me smile to see her quotes of 25's and 33's for the Guineas
