can see why she's the rage also and noseda unstoppable at the moment. won well last year but how good a contest was that? might be best over 5 and fresh? couple behind her lto may have better chances than their odds suggest imo

no surprise he ran well at the gash track bring a fs lover. had the bias in his favour lto and can see him readily overturned here
society rock
grossly overrated from lto and is a one figure horse on that performance (barely listed class prior)
kingsgate native
had conditions to suit lto and fluffed it. not convinced about his ability to handle a stiff 6 (3yo allowance at favoured ascot only performance). pass
equiano
super season so far but much better over the min. might be verging on value but already had a few tough races this season.
marchand dor
lost the plot and was lucky to pip the legend benbaun. however thats no form at all and has it all to prove now

couldnt have him over this 6fl. might be better with juice in the ground also
showcasing
gluttons for punishment backing him after his run lto but i could be one of them. wouldnt be the first horse not to handle gaffscots 'surface' but its a bit of a wing and a prayer with first time blinkers trying to mask averageness?

was stable choice lto and had a troubled passage. given the nod over war artist. should have beaten proviso last year (cristophe dropped the whip), bet goldikova and was just chinned prix maurice de gheest last year. stable going well and he looks like he could peak for this. only a lt to find with the filly and this track might suit better. interesting at 33/1

would be a poor race if he won but admirable sort and wouldnt be surprised if he squeaked a place with coxy in decent form. 66/1 insults
prime defender, alverta and serious attitude all look outclassed
all in all varenar looks a decent bet. he could have been aimed at the pdmg like last year when he just failed but the trainer must think he has a shot here. G1 winner, underrated, ran very well lto, stiffer track will suit, overpriced in my book.

was keen on War Artist as posted on other thread, so the fact that they aren't bothered about running him in this, suggests they are fairly confident Varenar has a solid chance, so him being a non runner is a boost for you really.

Varenar traveled really well in the Jubilee but just didn't seem quick enough at the business end. Not for me, even at 33's.
Tempted by the 16/1 e/w about Equiano but think I'll pass as I pretty much think that Starspangledbanner and Fleeting Spirit will finish 1-2.
Nicconi though at 16/1 is where I think my money will go, just seems to me as the one at a decent price that could possibly win the race whereas most of the others you're hoping get 3rd.

Starspangledbanner has to be a lay at the price - please tell me the last horse to win G1 sprints back to back? As a general rule, they do not. Agree with OP - draw bias/pace bias at Ascot, he got run of race. Marchand D'or suffered traffic trouble. He is value e/w as winner of race 2 years ago. Also willing to give Showcasing another go, and Serious Attitude no forlorn hope. Lightly raced, open to improvement, could be a Frizzante-type. Those would be my 3 e/w against the field.

I cant have that horse. always felt he fluked the lightening stakes.

they will be making more use of his crusing speed tomorrow which should be interesting...these us dirt horses are use to carving out scary fractions and O'Callaghan reckons Fallon couldve attacked the Golden Jubilee alot better.

Can't see how completely different trainers and their methods can be cited as a reason for Nicconi going to improve. O'Brien was always going to leave a fair bit of work on for SSB's debut, why would Nicconi not be ready lto?
SSB all the way for me to follow another brilliant Aussie racehorse who did the double, his sire Choisir.
Then he can go off to stud in Australia in August where he will be guaranteed a STS bunch of mares.

Surely the Jubilee form , a race run with a huge track bias and a slow finishing split ,won't count for much tomorrow. Will look forward to doing business with SSB fans.
they will go far too fast early on and basically will need a hold up horse who has plenty of pace but stays = > VARENAR, ta very 33's muchly.
I really hope Serious Attitude turns up tomorrow. She is an outsider, but is in my opinion capable of a top 4 place. I took her at some big prices for small money, but the prices are enough to give layers some squeaky bum time. I had a small bet on Kingsgate Native at 20s, simply because he is capable if he runs up to capability. He ran in to a top 5 finish a couple of years ago, and if he improves from that he has a bit of a chance. Nicconi intrigues me, but i might just wait until tomorrow before deciding. His record over 6f isn't all that, although i don't know if his trainer is the optimistic type, or whether he can do it.
Backing Varenar too, mainly for the reasons I put up earlier in this thread regarding the trainer pulling out War Artist when I thought he had a big chance. Race could just be set up for him perfectly.

Thought he was retired(?!) but did all best work towards end of King's Stand, regular pilot takes over. Must have a chance and hard to resist at 16/1

Three Jubilee (prev Cork & Orrey) winners have won July Cup since 1982.
Two of those were 3yo's who won Cork & Orrey when Group 3 race.
Only Les Arcs 2006 (6yo) was older winner.

If it wins this race, its a huge effort.
I have followed him from the start, he is way unders for this race. But if he gets rolling on the speed he may cruise away

Very good shout as ever Plat,thought Mr.Mosse gave it absolutely no chance. Having backed it at Ascot and today I am sure there is a decent sprinter in there gagging to get out
