Firstly starspangled is a worthy fav after beating them all at ascot but taking 7/4 in 20 runner sprint isnt my idea of fun so going to have to look elsewhere...

Showcasing jumps off the page at 25/1. Have absolutely no idea what went wrong at ascot and dont think gosden does either but the whole thing stunk imo drifting from 6/1 in the morning to 12/1 on betfair pre-race. john gosden didnt know what was wrong but clearly someone did.

So im willing to put a line thru it finished in front of starspangled at haydock first time out this year, reported to have badly needed the run that day so altho im sure ssb improved massively from haydock to ascot showcasing should be capable of plenty to.

25/1 will do for me and looks sure to run with buick jocked up again for the ride.

in fact i assume a large part of the 25/1 was due to the fact his participation was in question.

and of course 3yo's have a great record in the race (i think)

The drift on Showcasing in the place market was even more alarming.Whoever knew something knew it wouldn't be at the races.Never went a yard and beaten before a furlong.

yep maybe it was got at or something. didnt really think that sort of thing happened in racing thesedays but it really did stink.

just seen the other thread so sorry for starting a new one.

but i see plenty of u have been taking the advice with all the 25s now gone so good luck all.

goes off single figures

Good luck, cant see how he should be single figures given he's not shown himself to be near Group 1 class yet. Marchand D'Or still good value 18/1 fwiw.

I don't mind using this thread. Mine was just for people to shove in some early notes. I'm not backing Nicconi, and instead backed Kingsgate Native at 20/1 and Serious Attitude at about 220/1. I find these kind of sprints hard to predict, because absolutely anything could win.
Report sintonian July 4, 2010 2:57 PM BST
It is not the first time Showcasing has/was Fav and let backers dwon. Perhaps he is not as good as connections first hoped.
Report Graeme83 July 5, 2010 12:55 PM BST
It's hard to know in how high a regard they held him. He can still be a really good horse without having to win the July cup.
Report ben10 July 5, 2010 1:12 PM BST
Perhaps the Nunthorpe is the time to catch him?
Report mythical prince July 5, 2010 1:36 PM BST
maybe he was got at? maybe he's just not very good.
Report Graeme83 July 6, 2010 10:39 AM BST
There's only one way to find out !
Report geton July 8, 2010 4:17 PM BST
maybe hes not very good but considering he beat the winner the run before hes certainly better than tailed off last.

obviously wasnt his form mythical was it

Kinsale King pour moi.

O'Callaghan wants Fallon to be more aggressive this time and make more use of his high cruising speed.
