Had a quick scan and can't see a thread, if I've missed it, can someone ttt it, if not we'll use this one.

Firstly - I see Ladcrooks, Poers, spoils and Vc are all still offering prices on West Ocean - she is not coming over, and was confirmed as much on 1st june!! [>o]

Kinsale King looks a very solid 10/1 shot. King Kieren rides.

Starspangledbanner, cracking first run for the yard and will meet all his rivals from there on better terms at Ascot.  Looks as if he could have done with the run at York so improvement sure to come from that effort and, if it does, he looks certain to be involved in the finish of this race.

He def runs, KF confirmed, and was out to Belmont to ride him, just looks to be a quality American sprinter, well prepared and still a decent price.

They have already done up all the media and advertising for SSB's stud career, he's going to the Jubilee.

Kinsale King for me too.
Getting your head in front of Rocket Man makes you a very very good horse.

I guess the 10/1 is fair but obviously there are doubts.
Gone from Pro-ride to cushion, back to Pro-ride and then tapeta his last 4 races, won them all though. He's also never been on turf to the best of my knowledge, but he does seem pretty versatile.

That he's never raced the straight 6f is more of a worry. I couldn't see Sacred Kingdom being beaten last year and it was probably that and maybe the barging match with Ialysos that did for him.

That Fallon actually went out to the US to work him is pretty big too.

Just looking down through the market there isn't really another that stands out to me an an antepost bet, but will look again closer to the day.

Plenty of 10's still available, I've just backed him in an e/w double with Fleeting Spirit in the Kings Stand so far.
I'm pretty sure he was due to travel Tuesday so maybe worth waiting to make sure everything went ok before getting properly involved?

The sheet I saw said G1 winner from 1100-1600m.

King Stand being over 1000m...

Of course I am sure they would happily change that if he won the Kings Stand but everything mentioned in the press down here has suggested that the Jubilee is his target.

I don't think they will, but if they do go to the Kings Stand I will be mighty dissapointed.

Ideally the horse gets up on the speed finds his rhythm and then runs them ragged, best placed at 1400 for me and the stiff 1200 at Ascot should be perfect.

Over 1000m he will never get 200-400m to settle down, get comfortable and control the race.

Noseda leans towards Golden Jubilee for Spirit
Go Back
TRAINER Jeremy Noseda has still to decide whether his star sprinter Fleeting Spirit will line up in the King’s Stand or the Golden Jubilee next week.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit will be making her seasonal debut at Royal Ascot but she has a good record fresh and her trainer is pleased with her condition.

Last season Fleeting Spirit finished runner-up to Scenic Blast in the King’s Stand on her first run of the year before winning the July Cup at Newmarket.

Noseda said: “I am 90% certain that she will run in the Golden Jubilee but I shall be watching the weather forecast over the weekend and make a decision then.

“I am very happy with her and believe she is as close to her peak as she was for Royal Ascot last year.

“If she runs in the King’s Stand she will be partnered by Tom Queally and if she goes for the Golden Jubilee Frankie Dettori will ride.”

Fleeting Spirit likely to
run in Golden Jubilee

BY PETER SCARGILL 9:09AM 13 JUN 2010

JEREMY NOSEDA has yet to decide on which Royal Ascot sprint Fleeting Spirit will contest next week but admitted he is "90 per cent certain" it will be the Golden Jubilee.

Owned by Paul Roy and Andy Stewart, last year's Group 1 Darley July Cup winner has been placed behind Scenic Blast and Equiano in the last two runnings of the King's Stand Stakes at Ascot.

Noseda said: "I am 90 per cent certain that she will run in the Golden Jubilee but I shall be watching the weather forecast over the weekend and make a decision then."

Fleeting Spirit will be making her seasonal reappearance at Royal Ascot having not run since finishing seventh in the Breeders' Cup Sprint atSanta Anita.

Frankie Dettori, who rode the mare at the Breeders' Cup, will keep the ride if Fleeting Spirit runs in the Golden Jubilee but would be replaced by her former jockey Tom Queally in the King's Stand as Dettori is booked on Australian raider Nicconi.

"If she runs in the King's Stand she will be partnered by Tom Queally and if she goes for the Golden Jubilee Frankie Dettori will ride," Noseda said on his website.

"I am very happy with her and believe she is as close to her peak as she was for Royal Ascot last year."

Starspangledbanner, 2.5pts at 10s.
Fleeting Spirit, 1.5pts EW at 12s.

Happy with that, the foreign raiders do worry me a bit but i'm confident enough with my two.  The former should come on a lot from his first run for the yard and meets his conquerors from York on much better terms.  Fleeting Spirit clearly runs well first time up and probably needs the sixth furlong on what is hopefully to be pretty quick ground.

Not decided what I will be backing yet but you could make a case for vitually all of them. Hope the draw doesn't ruin it.

Happy Zero in fine form for Royal Ascot

Alan Aitken
South China Racing Post

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trainers John Moore and Derek Cruz will go into tomorrow's Group One Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot knowing their runners are in better shape than usual and hoping they have left all the uphill battles on the training tracks.
"The air is great for them here, the gallops are superb - it's just a wonderful place to train a racehorse," was Moore's summary after Happy Zero's final piece of work yesterday.

"He worked on the grass gallop over 1,000m, chasing a workmate and did it well. His recovery was great and he is a very fit horse. Working up these steep slopes, I've tried to put plenty of endurance into him and he's handling it well. Happy Zero's a picture of health."

Moore said he would go into the 24-runner race with great confidence in Happy Zero's winning chances in the event that Cape Of Good Hope took for Hong Kong in 2005, but with one proviso that won't be known until the day.

"The horse is terrific and I'm very upbeat. I think we are second favourite now behind Showcasing and we have a live chance, but the one thing is that he has to travel to the races and be happy and as relaxed as he can be," he said. "We don't want him getting upset before the race, like Sacred Kingdom did last year."

Moore said he was hoping for a high-numbered draw for Happy Zero because the first days of the Royal Ascot meeting indicated a positive bias to horses away from the grandstand rail, which is where the draw numbers start.

Cruz also believes he has Joy And Fun better than the gelding has ever been, something the bookmakers believe the Dubai Alquoz Sprint winner needs to be if he is to compete as they have him quoted at 20-1.

"I think he'll be a better horse here. He's done very well, he's bright in his coat," said Cruz, in the midst of being measured for his top hat and tails. "But I've been able to give him a lot of uphill work here on Warren Hill gallops at Newmarket and I think he is carrying more muscle as a result."

While Ascot's uphill-and-down-dale surface has found out many visitors over the years, Cruz believes the course's toughness will play into his hands.

"Joy And Fun has speed and he's tough - he runs a good 1,400m and I think this is a track that suits horses with some stamina," Cruz said.

Main Aim looks too big a price. There was a slow early pace for his latest win at Haydock, which didn't allow him to show his real superiority over the rest of the field. He's still a fresh horse this year and I can see him running a big race tomorrow.

Fleeting Spirit has the beating of Main Aim but her current form can only be guessed at. The foreign horses aren't easy to assess, they obviously have to be respected but again much has to be taken on trust. I think Main Aim has a cracking chance of reaching a place and might just even  nick it if there isn't a star performance.

Not impressed with Stan Moore tbh re Total Gallery. Why run him in TWO group races with a big penalty ? One OK for a prep but two .. ? Always thought he was better over 6f too despite his Abbaye win so should have gone straight for the Jubille imo.

Serious Attidue's STATS over 6F on quick ground are 11112 , and Fortune is 2/2.

No bet race for me however, Starspangle would be my pick fwiw.

If, and its an enormous if, Fleeting Spirit can run to that level 2nd time up she has to be a serious bet for the July Cup at twice the price of the winner - particularly in view of the draw advantage that one had. However can we count on her to re-produce that form ???

The July Cup winner might not have been in the Golden Jubilee.

Godolphin have an Aussie import Denman who started favourite in Starspangled's Guineas but failed to run out the mile.

He probably failed to live up to the hype in Australia but little doubt he had as much, if not more talent, than SSB and Saeed is setting him for the July Cup.
Report amaru June 21, 2010 5:01 PM BST
Cheers lads.

I think she represents very good value in the July Cup DD. If she was drawn stands side at Ascot its not hard to imagine she would have been much closer than she was, would most definitely have finished second anyway.  She ran up to form in the Abbaye last season only a month after the Haydock Sprint Cup and also in the July Cup three weeks after the Kings Stand so I dont see that being too much of a problem.  The 13/2 on offer seems pretty fair to me.
