This set up has come from nowhere in the last few years - even bagged a Gold Cup. Every horse they run warrents utmost respect. They usually run well, if they dont actually win. They must have a superb 'backroom' team, especially buyers. Compare this to JP McManus. Reckon if the 'backgroung' teams were reversed JP, given his resourses, would be top owner year after year.

They have bought, and continue to buy very well.
And most of the buying seems to be supporting the Irish pt2pt scene and the likes. Not buying expensive flat caasts offs, or French horses.

Presumed we were talking about Ireland Ben, don't think Gigginstown have any trained outside of Ireland. Happy

True but McManus has many more runners in Britain than Ireland so therefore it's unfair to compare the two 'back room teams' imo.

For sure Gigginstown have a successful formula and why tamper with that. But nothing wrong with buying flat horses - Istabraq, Alderbrook etc. - or buying from France, as Willie Mullins does so well.
The Pipe team shop in France a lot, and even Paul Nicholls, who swears by the Irish point to point scene, recruits a lot in France.
Talking about buying policy, hasn't Richard Hannon really struck gold at the Sales in recent years?

ben - the owner's championship came down to the last 2 or 3 races in Punchestown. They must have similar numbers in Ireland.

ball hopper - agree nothing wrong with buying ex-flat(they have one at Down Royal today) or France, just saying they seem to support the routes of NH racing.
