I am a bit surprised too, I thought he would go with St Nick. I find it hard to read Aiden's stable through, and to be honest I think any of his would have a very good chance, much better than last year when he only had one horse of real class. If Cape Blanco had been trained by anyione else - an unbeaten horse that had run away from the second favourite for the Derby at the time and in the usually strongest trial - he would be not far off favourite.
I wonder whether he is thought of as Aiden's second best colt and they want to keep him unbeaten by avoiding SNA, who they seem to think of still as unbeatable at Epsom? Perhaps though its because Midas and Jan are both bred to need a trip, and that they would have less chance of winning over the 10 furlongs of the French Derby? |

Of the four Ballydoyle hopes, he looks the most obvious 10f horse.
If one is to go to France, he is the obvious favourite. |

I have backed Midas touch but think you make a good point. The ballydoyle guys must really rate SNA for this not to be in the picture. The drift on here has been deceiving before, look at the price action last night looked like Midas was a non-runner only for it to be confirmed this morning. Good luck with your bet.

I know he won the Dante and he may (although it looks unlikely) run in the Derby.
But, if you look at O'Briens record in the Dante it suggest that he never sends his main Derby hopes there even though some of them have managed to win. The Derrinstown and the Guineas seems to where the highest ranked prep for Epsom which worries me a little as I fancy Jan Vermeer! |

perhaps the fact the horse finished lame at york has summit to do with it ...but as ever a crystal ball would struggle . the derby is the most insane race ever to back in ante post imo ......leave well alone .

therefore it must be the most sane race to lay in

Massive clue if you look at the Sussex Stakes entries. Only one of the Epsom 4 is being potentially regarded as an eight furlong horse.

Yes, but i believe Cape Blanco was going to be the Derrinstown runner until a slight setback, as a result of which he waited for the Dante instead |

perhaps the fact the horse finished lame at york has summit to do with it I think you might be right! |

the fact that the horse won't stay might have something to do with it.

the way he won the Dante would suggest he'd get the trip
|

I reckon he would get the trip too,he may also not be ready in time though.

By that do you mean he won't go to France either, Prima?

ben10,You are very astute when assessing runners in the big races,if you don't mind me asking what do you think of Henry Cecils Bullet Train,do you think him good enough to win?

Not sure to be honest. The Lingfield race wasn't great and he probably beat Listed class horses at best. He responded well from the front though and did it fairly easily. Thought Captain James Cook was in the process of running a good race though and it was a shame to see him break down; I don't think he's anywhere near as good as the other Ballydoyle horses though (wouldn't be 7/1 sp surely?) and so I think that form could be well below standard. Will be interesting to see if we have pacemakers though as BT could run a big race from the front if allowed a soft lead. I'm waiting until the decs before making a firm decision on all runners though, even the fav!
