Report Pilsudski • May 28, 2010 10:02 AM BST
Just don't understand those firms talking up SNA's chances. Can't have him if there is no "soft" in going description and round Epsom. Also stats-wise---a big fat zero next to his name.

JOHNNY MURTAGH is to delay a decision on his Investec Derby mount after St Nicholas Abbey, favourite for the Epsom Classic, failed to sparkle on the Ballydoyle gallops on Friday morning.

Speaking at 12.45pm on Friday, trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "Johnny rode St Nicholas Abbey this morning and felt that the colt might not have shown the same sparkle as he did when he rode him on Tuesday morning.

"Consequently, he won't be making up his mind about what he will ride in the Derby until the middle of next week."

O'Brien confirmed that running plans for Jan Vermeer and Cape Blanco, both of whom hold entries in the Epsom Classic and the Prix du Jockey Club, will not be made until the middle of next week.
Report darkroom • May 28, 2010 1:40 PM BST

LOL not showing the same sparkle might mean he is still better than the rest but having a not such an exceptional day read between the lines
Report HENRY THE ATEF • May 28, 2010 1:50 PM BST

Report Moono • May 28, 2010 2:01 PM BST
Come next tuesday it will be " St Nic sparkles in workout" and it will be backed ryt back into 9/4 again..
Report The Headmaster • May 28, 2010 2:14 PM BST
Possibly, moono.  The alternative course of events is:

Friday - "Jonny's delayed a decision 'cos he didn't feel St Nicholas Abbey was quite right in his work on Friday morning"

Saturday - "We're going to run a few tests on St Nicholas Abbey just to make sure our champion's ok"

Sunday - "Our team our going over the tests results now"

Monday - "St Nicholas Abbey has not been confirmed for the Derby.  The test results have come back and we don't feel he's ready for Epsom right now.  We're looking at the Nunthorpe, Grand Prix de Paris or Queens' Vase next".

Monday week - "St Nicholas Abbey has been retired..."
Report trev w • May 28, 2010 2:18 PM BST

Johnny Murtagh rode St Nicholas Abbey this morning and thought he might not have shown the same sparkle that he showed last Tuesday morning...

http://www.coolmore.com/ballydoyle-article.php

It's gobbledygook. "Johhny thought maybe...". Didn't he have 8 gears last Tuesday? Has he now only got 7?

Volunteered information in O'Brienese that translate as "we're bailing on the horse".
