Coolmore will have the final say who runs where, running SNA and Midas Touch at Epsom gives them a main runner by Montjeu and a reserve by Galileo,Jan V' and Cape Blanco in France the same,Montjeu has not yet been champion sire, they want to change that this year if they can he leads the sires table at the moment. The whole business Coolmore operate in is stallions Montjeu is the most expensive sire in Europe just now,to maintain this he must 1,get top class stock Derby winners being the best for any sire 2,Champion sire.

agree PD - however winning the Epsom Derby is the No1 target... how may Champion 3yr olds have as many holes on their 2yr old CV as Midas Touch...
Unless they truly believe St Nic is unbeatable - I think they will add one of the other 2 horses to increase they chances of ensuring a win. Cape Blanco and JVM both cannot win in France so to be beaten by St Nic at Epsom would be eaiser to swallow than losing in France. It might even enhance St Nic's repuation if he beats these. if he does show form of last year - either of these are ready made champions |
