Thoroughbreds tend to peak on the 3rd or 4th start of the season - and hannon (jnr) said the horse really came on in his work in the last two weeks.
By:
yeah cuz thats what people always ask connections after they have won a grp 1....er why did'nt you have your horse spot on last time ffs..

Needed the run at Newbury. Lost to a still unbeaten colt at Newmarket. Won a much weaker race at the Curragh.
The racing press will never print the truth. |

You can see how good the horse is perhaps they got his training regime wrong and underdid the horse in the run up to the Guineas? Horses with natural speed like him are surely easier to get ready than most. They could surely have timed the horse to peak much earlier than this.
I didnt doubt the horse could win the Guineas if he got the trip, however nobody has been silenced because they couldnt get him ready first time up, they have. |

Never read such bullcr@p ... silenced doubters my @rse.
By:
Of course they silenced there doubters.
What is his rating now? Who will be favourite for the st james palace? There were people on here saying he wouldn't stay at Newmarket (quick track) but hosed on a much stiffer surface yesterday. |
By:
stiffer track

By:
Silenced doubters? they need to work out why he wasnt fully ready for the English Guineas, the biggest race in the horses life.
By:
He was also ridden in the English Guineas as though THEY didnt think he would get the trip ... watch it again the whole 'silenced doubters' cr@p is laughable.
By:
the horse had every chance in the english guineas, he didn't pick up. Big improvement yesterday.
By:
much the best 3yo miler now . would of hosed up in the english guineas on yesterdays run. will kick mafti into touch on that.

Just watched newmarket again, had every chance with a furlong to go.

The horse was ridden as if THEY didnt think he would stay in the English Guineas ... watch it again. Maybe they silenced themselves?
By:
the horse was given cover because of what happened at newbury - they always believed he would stay.

Very funny, if ever there was a ride where connections only wanted to get up near the line stretching stamina that was it for me. They silenced themselves the whole thing is hilarious.
The racing press have their nose so far up connections derrieres they can see their tonsils and it has blanked out light allowing them to see who didnt get the horse ready in time for the biggest race in its life or have him ridden like a horse who would definitely stay in that race. If anyone fails to have their work done for the big opening day deadline only to have it ready a couple of weeks later, they dont get accolades they get the sack in the real world. |

We're only talking millions of quid lost in stud fees though eh?

His value went up significantly yesterday, and If he turns the form around with the french horse at ascot, it won't make much of a difference. |
By:
Yes the English Guineas is not as valuable as the Irish to breeders ... great observation .. not.
By:
read my post again.
By:
I have and it is a 'what if' post. We arent talking what if's in the future but 'what if' from the past which can be based on factual details, 'what if' they had the horse ready for the biggest race in its life and had him ridden like he stayed. It would have resulted in millions more in stud fees.
In the real world you get the sack for missing deadlines like that however this is not the real world it is the realm of bankers. |
By:
This is what will determine the horses stud fee.
1) How he ranks among the milers and the end of the year. 2) pedigree Coolmore are the biggest stud operation in the world - aidan didn't have rip van winkle or mastercraftsman primed for newmarket, in fact he used it more as a prep race. Do you really believe they would be worth millions more now if either of them had won? |
By:
Maybe the intention was to get to peek for the Curragh

Unfashionably bred so never going to command vast stud fees. Many will like the way it won yesterday though - showing a turn of foot to win a Group 1 looking like it was not even trying always excites the imagination. Doubt not winning at Newmarket will make much difference - for instance breeders haven't gone crazy about Cockney Rebel.

By:
A_T - I agree pedigree is very important.

Kirk, you utter...
Clearly got stuck in the dip, changed his legs etc. They said as much FFS |
By:
nobody thinks the horse that won the English guineas might actually be quite good then?
By:
Kirk must have had a hell of a good AP bet on him for Newmarket

By:
Newmarket was the 1st race where they tried to switch him off and ride him with a bit more patience, he noticeably was more amenable to restaint yesterday
