Runs today against Goldikova, whoi'd not expect to be cherry-ripe.  As such, as animprovinglightlyracedwellandfashionablybredKhalidAbdullaAndreFabre 4yo colt must have good claims of turning over the wonder-mare.  Battled to a nose win against Gris de Gris lto but has scope remaining and is fit. Few mudlarks in tomorrow too, Stacelita, Wiener Walzer and Board Meeting, all probably better over further, on softer ground and having their first run back, so no thanks.

Also, interestingly, holds an entry in the Prince of Wales Stakes.  This is the route Manduro took and Valixir followed up a win in this in the Queen Anne at Royal York.  So Fabre has form in using this race as a prep.  Going back through the years, he's often used the race tomorrow as a prep for Ascot or the Eclipse, so it's a fair chance if it wins tomorrow it'll be on the plane.  It is his only entry at Ascot and does not hold an Eclipse entry.

The French have a good recent record in the POW too, 2 1st and 2 3rd in the last 4 years, with other runners too.

Also looks a non-outstanding year for middle distance older colts, and he could be the pick of the French intended runners

It's trading at 30+ on here, if he wins tomorrow it won't be.

Hell, if it loses i'll be up t'creek without t'paddle...
But hey.  Take a look at it if you like.LaughHappy

Ran well, no shame in who he finished second to and looked like a step up in trip may suit so still interesting as an Arc horse.

Well, the mare ran a lot better than I expected!

Still, all is not lost.  I've not checked but the time was supposed to be excellent, he was coming back on her at the finish, as you'd expect and should improve back up to 10f.  Made up ground going into the straight like a good 'un and relatively unlucky against one of the best milers of recent years Cry Oh for another half furlong!

Main concern is that Twice Over is being targeted at the POW supposedly so would the owner run two?  Hadn't thought of this last night.

Overall, not sure about 1m4 for him but happy if he goes for any top 1m2 race.

DUAL Breeders' Cup Mile winner Goldikova produced an impressive display when setting a new race record the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp on Sunday.

Khalid Abdullah's Byword, trained by Andre Fabre and ridden by the promising Maxime Guyon, ran with creditin second.

Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said: "He ran a fantastic race and was only beaten half a length by a great filly. They were a long way off the third and he is still improving. It is possible he will go next for the Prince of Wales's at Royal Ascot."

Goldikova's a bit special. Just surprised she was wound up for this. Sure, he gave her a headstart, but how quickly did he make up the ground coming into the straight? Then it was just a flat out duel in which the miler beat the 10f horse getting 3lb! Bloody fillies allowance Laugh

Also, Byword's been given a Topspeed of 120.  Puts him into the higher echelons n'est pas?

More I think about better he ran, no match for Goldi imo who was eased a little before the line but as I said no shame in that, Head has clearly indicated she was more forward than last year and the ground would have made her run look worse last year.

Well,

he's favourite now.

Hope some people got good prices (admittedly there wasn't much available) and we get some good luck.

jair 1970, thanks for pointing this horse out the day before he ran against Goldikova, took a risk and backed him anti post for the Prince of Wales at 20-1. Hope you were also on ?
