Without Yeats and Patkai on the easy list this race is wide open with doubts about alot of them imo Ask - Stoute told us to hang fire with any antepost bets Aqe Of Aquarius - AOB undecided whether it goes for The Hardwicke instead Darley Sun and Kite Wood - which is Godolphins's number 1 hope? both not run yet aswell Manifest - great York Cup win but would an extra 6 furlongs at Ascot be ok for this horse? Kasbah Bliss - not convinced Gonna have a small bet on Geordieland even though it's 9 years old,big price and no Yeats or Patkai to contend with, daft bet maybe?
nibbledat 16 May 10 17:57 bannaby spaff. anyone remember why he didnt run last year?
This was my main bet last year, with Yeats and Geordieland as savers. I never came across anything about why he didn't come over. Wants easy ground??
Steering clear of it this year, because of that experience.
Already on Askar Tau this year, though slightly regretting it already.

Manifest was impressive at York and does give the impression he will get further. Having nabbed some 16's on here prior to York I am happy to trade out at 4's for a horse who still has a bit to prove over the trip and who wouldn't seemingly enjoy very fast ground according to connections.
Darley Sun has a bit to find on the ratings with a few of these however he is sure to stay the trip and has won on good and fast ground, and also at Ascot, so represents decent value at 12's for me.
I am also interested in Buxted at big prices. I thought this horse was staying on well in the John Porter for an inexperienced animal, and his last few runs suggest he is crying out for a step up in trip. Whether he wants another mile is questionable on breeding but at 50's with some books and higher on here I will chance a few quid each way.

Kasbah Bliss has the speed to have lost out in a phot over 12 furlongs and the stamina to have won over 3m on soft going over hurdles at haydock as well as putting it up to the mighty Inglis Drever in the World Hurdle. he has been laid out for this race by Doumen for about a year. 2m4f on quick ground at ascot is perfect for this horse.this is the winner imo

This isn't 3 miles on soft going over hurdles at Haydock or the world hurdle. This is the Group 1 Ascot Gold Cup.
As for Doumen laying him out for this race and 2m4f on quick ground being perfect, you just made that up and it flies in the face of all known facts about this horse.

You pay your money and make your choice hippie, simple as. some people on here fancy kasbah, you obviously dont. douman was quoted last year as strongly fancying this years ascot gold cup rather than running in the world hurdle. that may not amount to him laying him out for the race at all, but it was his main aim.

If that's what Doumen said I'd like to see the quote because he's put you away.
This is an 8yo. It's there in black and white why this horse can't win the Gold Cup if you care to look.

This horses best form on the flat has been on a sound surface. He is a genuine group 1 horse who stays and has a turn of foot to compete in 12f grp1's.Doumen has targetted this race since drawing stumps over hurdles. Fair enough if you dont fancy kasbah, but do you actually fancy anything in race or just bein argumentative?

On the Bannaby query, I've found out elsewhere that the horse missed the Gold Cup last year due to injury. Can't have been too serious though, as it was running again three weeks later.

Aren't those bookies a nasty piece of work? Holberg is 14/1, and he hasn't run for a year. I've had a look on Godolphin's website, and he ain't in the list of their horses in training. Maybe he's returned to Johnston though?

He broke the track record winning that Queen's Vase. Fingers crossed he re-appears in the Henry II Stakes.
FFT, your asking about Holberg seems to have prompted someone to take the last of the 70s. I should have taken it all.http://www.godolphin.com/PhotoGalleryMain.aspx?gid=387[image 4]He broke the track record winning that Queen's Vase. Fingers cro
It doesn't bother you that this 8yo has only raced once in his whole career when the word "firm" appeared in the going, "soft" appears in all but 1 win and he usually spends June in a field?
That's rhetorical btw. Fill yer boots.

hard to find firm ground when he was being aimed at the world hurdle, trainer has stated he is a better horse on better ground thats good enough 4me,its a game of opinions tho.

One who keeps catching my eye at a big price is Samuel. I see he has an entry @ York on Saturday in the race he won two years ago. Anybody have any info. on him and plans?
