1636: It seems Cape Blanco may have knocked himself in winning the Dante. He's a drifter - but not a huge one - for the Derby on the exchanges and is reportedly being checked out by the vets here at the racecourse.

Have they passed him fit enough to return back to ballydoyle .
Which appeared to be an issue?

If he's fit enough to travel back all should be ok!
They could have left him with the local vet college, if he needed some immediate treatment.

The fast ground at York has been one of the talking points of the day, after both Midday and Workforce seemed uncomfortable on it, and Cape Blanco seemed to be lame in the immediate aftermath of his Dante win. The racecourse vet says he was just a bit sore, however, so it seems this should not going to be a problem that will affect his Derby preparation.

It looked quite awkward for him up the home straight trev. You could see the bit hanging out.

I wonder if they will run Kite Wood.

Asked whether the horse was stiff after the race, Coolmore representative Kevin Buckley said: "Apparently when he walked away he was but he has walked back to the stable yard now and he's okay. The presumption is that he has just knocked the spot where he had a nick at the weekend."

Trainer Aidan O'Brien gave Cape Blanco the go-ahead to take part in the Dante after revealing on Sunday that he had nicked a heel at the weekend. The racecourse vet at York is also set to examine the colt.
