David Villa Top Goalscorer 11/1 downwards
Spain to win it sat 9/2 5/1 Been backing both a little bit once a week for last few months, so got a decent amount on each. |

yep, gunna have a good look after the season has finished. plenty of value and SURTS to be found

I had that double in the Euros at 75/1 TD (shameless aftertiming). Surely not twice in a row?
Still working on the top scorer market myself. Going to cover quite a lot of them to varying stakes and hope for a pretty good return. Waiting for squads though before I actually place any bets. Argentina are my fancy to win it as long as Marodona keeps things sensible. Doubt I'll play in any individual games as I'm not a follower of international football. |
By:
He just has such an incredible scoring record for Spain and they are atm, the best team in the world imo. Too good to be true most likely. Going to add quite a few others before hand anyway.
Maradona and sensible in the same sentence :O |
By:
Like the look of these for top scorer/winning team:
Argentina/Higuain @66/1 Brazil/Fabiano @30/1 Germany/M Klose @125/1 Germany/L Podolski @150/1 |
By:
Exactly TD re Maradona. Which is why I can't back them outright.
Higuain is one I like a lot for top scorer myself as well but not even sure if he will pick him. Got so many great options and he's just as likely to pick a 40 year old than any of them. Something I heard the other day - no European team has ever won a World Cup hosted outside of Europe. Significant or coincedence? |

How low do Holland trade at
|
By:
can someone lay me odds on england players ending up in a pizza hut advert please ?
|
By:
Hollands key players (Sneijder, Robben, RVP) are hitting top form at the right time.
Been humming and hawing over backing them for a while now as the price looks decent. They just don't look like World up winners though, do they? Decisions, decisions... |
By:
Agree with gunner, has to be Spain
|
By:
Spain have 1 or 2 problems going into the World Cup, Torres mightn't be fit for the opener, Xavi is likely to miss the tournament & Iniesta has been injured sporadically throughout this season, add to that Fabregas out injured at present aswell, i think 9/2 - 5/1 on offer represents poor value.
Ive backed Argentina at 9's...when you analyse their squad its superb, Messi is the best player in the world, add to him there's Tevez, Higuain, Aguero, Di Maria, Milito, Mascherano, Maxi, Cambiasso, Demichelis, Zanetti and you have a tremendous squad...seems like most of the 9/1 has gone but 7/1 is still a good price i feel. |
By:
I really want to back the Argies in a Winner/Top Scorer double but they have so many options up front it's impossible to know what the GOAT will do.
|
By:
Just do Messi
|
By:
Holland spaff
@ 16/1 & 14.5 on here/daq |
By:
Well, if I do go for it, it's likely to be either him or Higuain (perhaps Messi is not be greedy enough to back for TGS?)
I have a feeling their goals will be shared around, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they have four players with three goals or more by the tournaments end (provided they go far). |
By:
I think Holland have the best chance out of the European teams TV and 16/1 is a great price.
Need RVP, Robben & Sneijder to all stay fit though but all of them are injury prone. |

Quite good for going through groups |

no bets on this yet...good idea though to have a thread

Spain win on the sniff
|

I backed Theo Walcott for TGS 2 years ago after his hat-trick in Zagreb. The idea being he would have progressed and be playing in his most natural position, striker. Unfortunately for him, and my bet, he has been injured for a large part of it. Having had 2 operations on his shoulders to cure a hereditary complaint, and various niggling problems thereafter. At this rate im not even sure if he'll get in the Squad!
66/1 eachway. |
By:
Voting for Spain and Brazil myself
|
By:
D.Villa top Gsc - several wheelbarrows from 12/1 downwards
|
By:
Been dutchin Spain and Brazil every week for the last few weeks
Fabiano Top Scorer 12/1 |
By:
I'm sure I read that Fabiano had injured his knee as was going for a scan this week. I take it was not a bad one?
|
By:
Name the only player to play for 2 countries in The World Cup????
|
By:
Spain are no value, esp given the injury worries, and the European stat.
Liking Argentina, Germany & Holland..... ... with my dark horses Mexico, Chile & Ivory Coast. |

Is that Puskas, Bleu?
Italy seem a big price in the winner market for a side with such a good WC record. I know recent form has included some indifferent performances and the side, to some extent, is in transition. Nevertheless, good mix of youth and experience in the likely squad and generally well organised defensively. |
By:
It seems to be against the trend to like England, does this make them value
|
By:
Only if the bookies pushed them out a few points ben.
The current manager is def the biggest plus ye have had in a long while. I'd want 12/1 though. |
By:
Yeh probably right, I'd take 8/1 tbh, would want a lot more with Carragher in the side though
|

Just put this on WC forum:
Terry Venables Joined: 29 May 03 Replies: 750 11 May 10 09:56 I'm on Holland at various prices down from 16/1 Imv they are a solid trade, they will qualify from there group and have numerous talented front players, admittedly the defence isnt the strongest, but it won't need to be in the group stages. I think everyone is jumping on the price now hoping to bail out after the group stages/round of 16. If you compare their price with England then there's only 1 bet. Arjen Robben (E/W 80/1) interests me also as a longshot for the Golden Boot, in cracking form this season 4 goals should see him in the top 4. |
By:
U.S.A. to top England's group, about 5-1 on here, looks value.

Soap Joined: 31 Oct 02 Replies: 1428 16 May 10 20:29 I just went through all the round 1 games and my thoughts are as follows. Back all teams versus Algeria before tourny starts I think these may prove to be the weakest link. Slovenia to bt Algeria 6-5 England to bt Algeria 1-3 USA to bt Algeria 4-5 Other round 1 bets i feel are overpriced. Need 1 win for a profit. Nigeria 5/1 v Argentina Slovenia 12/5 v USA Ivory Coast 2-1 v Portugal Anyone any strong thoughts on any games / groups or top GS. Outright I have backed Spain at 5s which I think is good value if a fit Torres turns up. Soap Joined: 31 Oct 02 Replies: 1428 16 May 10 20:30 Spain bet is with cash back if England win concession. |
