CAPTAIN JAMES COOK

This is the beast, won't be beat.

I was at Dundalk when he won his maiden.

He literally is the best looking 3yr old I have ever seen, an absolute tank.

The young smart pretender from Oxxs stables came upsides on the bridle and took one look into the monsters eyes and chucked it.

Get on the 100/1 train, because he wont be that after Lingers on SaturdaySilly

The only horse worth backing with captain in the name is the mighty Cee Bee ohhhh yessssss what a horse..No doubt AOB will use this as a pace setter anyway for the SNA beast..

There is comparisons between this horse and GOLDEN SWORD last year I think.

Hoping he's a bit better than him thoughCool

Was he put down?

Commentator said he just slipped up on the turn but it looked a lot worse than that to me.

He was a bit of a lazy horse, Murtagh was just winding him up, would have been tough to pass I think.

What a shame, he was a smashing looking animal.Sad

He was still galloping around after the finish. Very surprised to hear he was put down.

SK - he had no chance with that injury. Not much can be done with something like that.

SOF, you must be a bit puzzled by the form of the stable this year

It's always late April and into May before they get into full flow zilzal and that's clearly the case again this year. Many if not all of the horses come out in need of that first run and they progress and go on from there.

Very sad to hear about this fellow at Lingfield today. He was a beautiful looking individual and clearly he had a huge amount of potential. He'll be remembered with a great deal of affection for what he achieved in his short career.

You usually win the Lingfield one though, and at chester too!!

Its just that they seem to be not really coming close in these trials though??

I hear what you say mate and yes for sure you could argue that there's been less of a bold show from the horses in the trials to date. The trials are extremely valuable to the stable, not only in terms of assessing our own but also from the point of view of where they stand against the other yards. Clearly this helps to identify the pecking order at Ballydoyle.

Going forward I'm full of hope for a Ballydoyle Derby winner at Epsom. It's a shame that the Derrinstown has so few runners tomorrow but Midas Touch is a massively talented colt and he should run ok. He'll come on for the run. Cape Blanco has a great chance in the Dante, which is shaping up to be an excellent Derby Trial. He's a beautiful, athletic type of colt Cape Blanco and he's filled out into a lovely looking 3YO.

Plenty to look forward to mate in an exciting week ahead Happy

Not backed up by the figures im afraid SOF. O'Brien had his best April in the last 5 years but has had a terrible start to May - which is rather uncharacteristic.

Even with his lesser lights, O'Brien usually hoses up the English & Irish trials but this year something appears to be amiss with them. However, im prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and Cape Blanco & Midas Touch will be the litmus test for me - if they get beat then I think its fair to say something is amiss.
