People were falling out of trees down here spruik this horse before his first run down in Aus and he was fairly average.

Thankfully someone on here gave me the word up that he would be basically of little use over 1600m and I managed to steer clear of him.

Has had 42 days to come on from that run and is up to 2000m tomorrow in a very poor looking renewal of the Queen Elizabeth at Randwick.

This looks more his go and the spruikers are out again, heavily backed through the week into 7/2.

TBF he did win a Group Two over here and was 4th in the Derby.
Key to this horse over here was if he settled early - can over-race/pull hard during the early stages.

He went absolutely woeful.

If he can't win that then he will not be winning anything of note down here, perhaps they can sell him to Macau a couple of hundred bucks.

more likely is the namby pamby way they run their races down there...crawl crawl crawl crawl crawl sprint.

for a horse that completely emptied out stamina wise in the st leger it might actually be the +mile6furlong races he excells at down there.

Think it was the ground over the distance in the Leger personally, 10 furlongs around Chester was barely enough for him, plus that was a lower class race, but if they go no pace then he doesn't have a lot of chance against Group 1/2 horses.

Problem for him as that we don't have a lot of races over further than a mile and a half down here and the few that are are handicaps of fairly poor quality leaving the Doctor with little to go after.

Except for one rather popular handicap but I would suggest that it is out of his reach.

A spruiker is someone who 'spruiks' a horse.

I'll let you work it out from there.

Lee's calling on the Doctor

LEE Freedman says frustration is the perfect word to describe Doctor Fremantle, and that frustration will lead into the Doomben Cup.

Doctor Fremantle has been in Brisbane for a fortnight, following head-scratching runs in Melbourne and Sydney.

Freedman admits he's chasing answers with the one-time glamour import in the $500,000 Doomben Cup, but says he expects none unless it rains.

"Frustration - that's a good description of the good Doctor," Freedman said. "I think it pretty much all comes down to tracks. The two runs he's had here have been on extremely firm tracks and they just haven't suited him.

"The forecast for Brisbane is a little bit of rain early in the week, then a drier latter half, and I'm not really sure that augurs well for him."

Freedman said he would check Brisbane's rules on accepting, then scratching, from Group 1 races.

"I need to know how long we can leave it," he said. "The horse is already up there, so there's no issue there (with transport), but I want to make sure all is right for him."

Doctor Fremantle arrived from Britain as one of the best-credentialled imports of recent years, but he has left Freedman wondering after unplaced efforts in both the Blamey Stakes at Flemington and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.

Freedman was ultra-confident that Doctor Fremantle would win the Queen Elizabeth.

Extreme post-race disappointment eased when he discovered Doctor Fremantle had a hoof abscess.

Freedman said the strong performances of a handful of his European imports made slight amends for Doctor Fremantle.

"Things haven't gone to plan with him, but that's racing. It happens a lot," he said. "We'll just keep chipping away until things come right," he said.

However, two-year-old Smokin' Joey is a certain runner in the Champagne Classic at Doomben on Saturday, regardless of the weather.

"He's a beauty. It wouldn't bother him wet or dry," he said.

The hunt for the weakest Group 1 race possible continues for the Doctor and he has now made it all the way up to Queensland.

The racing up there is weaker and the race would seem an ideal chance to pick up the elusive G1, but alas, he runs into Metal Bender who will more than likely dish out another defeat for the poor bugger.
