ARCANO, a disappointing third in Saturday's Greenham Stakes at Newbury, will miss the 2,000 Guineas on May 1.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned colt, who won last season's Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville but missed the Dewhurst Stakes due to a setback, is to be given more time before racing again.
Angus Gold, racing manager to the colt's owner, said: "We were expecting Arcano to come on for the run at Newbury, but hoping that he would quicken better than he did, and I don't think he was quite mentally there in the Greenham.
"Youhave to push horses early if they are to run in the Guineas and, in his case, it looks as if he won't be ready, so we're going to give him more time."
Sheikh Hamdan's retained jockey, Richard Hills, is now set to partner the Mark Johnston-trained Awzaan in the Newmarket Classic.
