Probably gonna want a test by next season, looks a stayer alreday
Report redal2 April 12, 2010 3:09 PM BST
I'd disagree. He travels so well I'd stick to shorter distances. In any case they may send him chasing so I'd wait for more definite news before backing him for anything.
Report Can't Catch Me April 12, 2010 3:11 PM BST
Not many come along who you think could win either, but hard to be dogmatic either way with this beast. Looks a real superstar.

Think I would favour the Chmapion if he were mine though.
Report abbott April 12, 2010 3:18 PM BST
I think he could be a champion hurdler next season just hope his trainer agrees
Report Roger The Butler April 12, 2010 3:25 PM BST
So good is this horse that he could be in the mix next season in anything from the Champion Hurdle to the Sun Alliance Chase.
Report duffy April 12, 2010 3:25 PM BST
the world hurdle would be the choice if and when it is proven that he aint a champion hurdle horse....so champion next year...world hurdle/chasing the season after.
Report CVByrne April 12, 2010 4:09 PM BST
Id love to back him for the arkle
Report Far From Trouble April 12, 2010 4:10 PM BST
I'll back him in the Champion Hurdle (as I think he'd have a big chance) or either of the grade 1 novice chases
Report TD_Gunner April 12, 2010 4:12 PM BST
Agree with CV
Report Far From Trouble April 12, 2010 4:13 PM BST
Although yeah, Arkle would be the preferred option.

As long as it's not the Stayers Hurdle, he'll be carrying my cash
Report CVByrne April 12, 2010 4:14 PM BST
I agree fft. Id prefer champion or arkle

Still like quel esprit for rsa
Report TD_Gunner April 12, 2010 4:15 PM BST
If Big Buck's is around, there really is no point going for the 3 miler, although if they go back over fences with BB, then Peddlers would be the one to beat in the World Hurdle.
Report redal2 April 12, 2010 4:16 PM BST
Someone said on here the other day he may not be quite quick enough for the Champion but not a stayer. I think that could be right so if they want to go chasing the Arkle would be perfect
Report duffy April 12, 2010 4:16 PM BST
i recall mccain saying in an interview BEFORE him winning at the festival that maguire had told him not to be too eager to send him fencing just yet!!!
Report Far From Trouble April 12, 2010 4:17 PM BST
True, although it does look like BB is hurdling for one more year

Personally think Peddlers is absolutely fast as fook, so if they stay hurdling, Champion would be the better option imo
Report TD_Gunner April 12, 2010 4:18 PM BST
There isn't a hurdler in training that could get near a 100 % Binocular though. But, he's not always 100 %.
Report Far From Trouble April 12, 2010 4:20 PM BST
Agreed again, but Binocular is more beatable than Big Buck's is imo.

I think we are very much agreed that the Arkle would be the best option anyway! ;)

I :x Peddler's Cross :x
Report CVByrne April 12, 2010 4:35 PM BST
Yep I love the horse too and will back for champion and arke. Hope its the ltter of course
Report abbott April 12, 2010 5:03 PM BST
I wouldnt get to carried away about Binocular, I will give you the abbott guarente that the ground will not be the same in next years champion hurdle
Report ELG April 12, 2010 5:07 PM BST
arkle innit....thats the northern way.
Report abbott April 12, 2010 5:08 PM BST
I would say there is only about a 10% chance that he goes over fences next year
Report Masterminded April 12, 2010 10:33 PM BST
Arkle imo or maybe try for the champ.
Report Brooksielad April 12, 2010 10:38 PM BST
I thought the only reason they didnt go for the supreme was because of dunguib?

Personally i dont think the Neptune form is going to work out that well. Theyll probably have a tough time over hurdles next year n I'd probably avoid until novice chasing the following year.

Its a good horse though, backed it in the neptune myself.
Report wondersobright April 12, 2010 11:04 PM BST
I wouldn't think twice about aiming him for the Arkle if he was mine, think he's a smashing sort.
Report Howdi April 13, 2010 12:14 AM BST

goes without saying.

CHAMPION HURDLE DEFFO
Report Paddy Hair April 13, 2010 3:02 AM BST
I don't know the answer and i am not trying to be clever, but how many PTP winners have won the Champion Hurdle. I would think being a PTP winner he is more likely to go chasing.
Report fuzzyone April 13, 2010 8:58 AM BST
ARKLE is the way to go. He has exceeded expectations over hurdles as he was bought to be a chaser.
Report dananders April 13, 2010 11:04 AM BST
definitely the champion. but people are forgetting 1 horse who is unbeatable ehen hes 100 percent and thats hurricane fly. will make binocular look like a selling class horse
Report AIDSMcGUG April 13, 2010 11:43 AM BST
^ Will he come back though ? :(
Report sageform April 13, 2010 12:24 PM BST
I would keep him over hurdles to start the season, try a good class 2 mile race to find out if he is good enough and go from there. No need to decide between Champion, Stayers or novice chase before the end of November.
Report hawkwing02 April 15, 2010 10:47 PM BST
i think he should be trained for arkle. then gold cup following year he will stay well in time and another year over 2miles would be good for him as staying hurdler find it hard to transform into gold cup winning stayers
Report BarryM April 16, 2010 12:31 AM BST
I'd start him off in that decent 2.5m hurdle at Ascot, which should pay the training fees for the year. If he wins it impressively, I'd then probably try the fighting fifth or Boil Sports. If he can win either of those then he has to go for the champion. If not, and I don't think he will, then I'd send him straight over fences and stop messing about.

He's a lovely horse, but he looks a good stone below champion class to me atm. He's young and unexposed though, and may possibly prefer softer ground than he got in his biggest races, so there may be more to come.

But if Binnocular turns up fit and well he wins. The ground doesn't matter a jot to him.
Report Nature Boy April 16, 2010 2:34 PM BST
Champion Hurdle for me then the Arkle the season after. Remember that Istabraq and Hardy Eustace both won the RSA Hurdle before going back in trip and I think he could have won the Supreme this year if they had gone for that.

Smashed a decent yardstick in Radium over 2m on heavy ground at Haydock and better on a sound surface, if he takes to fences he could be a cracking 2m chaser.

Cracking horse for next year whatever he goes for.
Report Desmond Orchard April 16, 2010 3:59 PM BST
It's almost as if someone simply copied and pasted a MDH fred from the same time last year!
Not that I'm trying to temper enthusiasm for a clearly very talented beast, I just hope we see him (well both of them, actually) next season.
Report ChildOfMine2 April 16, 2010 4:14 PM BST
I agree that the Champion Hurdle would be the race for Peddlers. Race him handy and he'd be very hard to beat over 2m at Cheltenham!
Report Masterminded April 16, 2010 7:43 PM BST
Hurricane Fly is a good horse but there is no way he can live with Binocular imo.
Report Masterminded April 16, 2010 7:45 PM BST
Oh and Peddlers cross should either go for Champion Hurdle or the Arkle. The World Hurdle is a poor race imo with a superstar in it already.

hurldes start the season so i would guess fighting fifth to see how good he is, if does well would keep him over that distance for the champion, if his not as good as the best over hurdles in the early season arkle bound for me.
