Horse has found his niche over hurdles. Weapons Amnesty is next years Gold Cup winner imo.

Certainly has nothing to prove over hurdles. If he went back over fences which races would you campaign him in leading up to Cheltenham Kirk?

Key thing for me is that the Stewarts have never had a GC winner. KS and Denman are probably done for GC-wise and BB is still young enough to become a double GC winner - perhaps even a triple.
He has the best engine in NH staying racing at the moment and loves Cheltenham. Have already backed at 12s for the 2011 GC |

Think he would suit a galloping chaser prep for the race but give the Hennessy a miss with a view to trying for 3 Gold Cups with him... Denman without the Hennessy. The perplexing race is the King George though he may not seem the type they would have Kauto initially anyway so probably the Lexus, Best Mate style (though he was versatile and suited to both) to give him a good prep for the Gold Cup .. missing the mickey mouse Aon.
Cruising speed, staying and jumping is what it is all about. If he can crack the latter what can beat him? |

They can still run Kauto in the Gold Cup but why make Big Bucks wait when he could succeed in winning a Gold Cup 3 times where Kauto is extremely likely to fail now.

From a punting point of view nobody would have to worry about the ground with Big Bucks, Claisse can have the time of his life with his hose and who cares unlike with Denman and Kauto?

I would prefer Big Buck's to stay over hurdles, then you can get effectively double the price on all your other antepost bets ;-)

By:
12/1 is a shocking price, he went back hurdling because of his poor jumping
By:
Maybe they should send Kauto back over hurdles if that's what happens after one mistake at a fence.

arnt they waiting for kauto to step aside due to they only want ruby on kauto and big bucks, read they want this due to big bucks quirks and ruby gets the best out of him and kauto last year maybe? greatness in trying to get his 3rd then retire thim ?
By:
They will be sacrificing a Gold Cup win for Big Bucks (provided his jumping is fine) to fail in getting Kauto his 3rd imo.
By:
wont do it without ruby thats for sure. ide try him at down royakl with ruby up . 5 runner should be too seasy 4 him and maybe give him confidence jumping wise. lexus and then cheltenham as long as the confidence at a fence is there
By:
kauto should do the ireland trip this year instead of haydock, what a friend maybe for the betfair chase then? and leave big bucks to do the same as he has this year.

Big Bucks is already the best staying hurdler we have seen nowhere near the prestige winning a 3rd than being giving the chance to emulate Best Mate and Arkle in winning 3 Gold Cups. Kauto just wont be up to it in a years time he may have his day in the King George but not the Gold Cup.
Big Bucks also needs to go for it while his biggest opponent of the future Mikhael D'Haguenet is novice chasing as Ruby will not want to get off Big Bucks when MDH goes for the Gold Cup the following season if Big Bucks already has a Gold Cup in the bag. MDH is potentially the best staying chaser since Best Mate/Kauto Star/Denman along with Big Bucks and Ruby may go for the more versatile MDH if pushed to choose as he is also a potential multiple King George winner. Nicholls will know this. |
