Fascinating renewal of this Listed race on Sunday, with several Guineas entries (1,000 and 2,000) among the potential runners:

1. Alfred Nobel (A.P.O'Brien)
2. Atasari (J. S. Bolger)
3. Buy Back Bob (G.M.Lyons)
4. Foolish Ambition (David Wachman)
5. Free Judgement (J. S. Bolger)
6. Gold Bubbles (J. S. Bolger)
7. Jamaayel (Kevin Prendergast)
8. Keredari (John M. Oxx)
9. Legendary Lad (D.K.Weld)
10. Miss Laa Di Da (Noel Meade)
11. Money Trader (J.T.Gorman)
12. Moonreach (P.D. Deegan)
13. Queen Of Troy (A.P.O'Brien)
14. Song Of My Heart (David Wachman)
15. Stunning View (D.K.Weld)
16. What About Me (Brian Nolan)

The form picks appear to be Alfred Nobel, Free Judgement and Atasari. With Aidan O'Brien's horses seemingly badly in need of the run first time out, it looks a good opportunity for Bolger's selected. Atasari has a chance to book her ticket to the 1,000 Guineas.

Everyone on the irish forum was dying to see Stunning view run the last day in leop.
Report sj April 6, 2010 1:47 PM BST
rowley

watched his last race again couple of days ago,do you think the draw did him no favours that day at the curragh(always trapped out wide) or would he need a bit more cut than the going that day?(was still a decent effort to be fair)
Report Rowley Mile April 6, 2010 1:51 PM BST
The draw probably killed his chance, can't remember the race tbh, i was just pointing out that a lot were waiting for him to run the last day which is usually a good sign. I do generally oppose weld's horses at the curragh tho.
Report ben10 April 6, 2010 1:54 PM BST
Wants good ground so if it's going to be soft I won't be bothering.

Hi James

Given the above and the fact that SNA's only other current entry seems to be a 10f race, can you honestly see him sharp enough on 1 May to win the 2000? Otherwise they presumably have some other race in mind?
Report jamesp April 6, 2010 7:51 PM BST
Hi Charlton,
Aidan's record in the 2000 Guineas speaks for itself and needs no history lesson from me. Most of his horses are clearly a bit behind at the moment, but I've no doubt SNA will be spot on for the Guineas on 1st May.
Report Stormbird April 6, 2010 7:53 PM BST
Lets hope the ground dries out.

Thanks James

Report soldieroffortune April 6, 2010 10:33 PM BST
james he'll have St Nicholas Abbey absolutely spot on for the Guineas, there is no doubt whatsoever about that.
Report Charlton2005 April 6, 2010 10:35 PM BST
Hey Soldier

Of course you believe that, but of course there is SOME doubt surely?

:)
Report soldieroffortune April 6, 2010 10:53 PM BST
For sure Charlton most of them look in need of that first run again this season but the Guineas horses are being trained specifically for that race and they won't arrive there lacking in fitness.

Whether St Nicholas Abbey is good enough to win the Guineas remains to be seen but he'll go there with a massive chance and for me he'll take a world of beating.
Report Charlton2005 April 6, 2010 10:54 PM BST
GL to him and to you if you back him. Looking forward to it, win or lose.

Should be a great race mate, GL to you too :)

An intriguing little race in prospect on Sunday:

Alfred Nobel (9-8) J Murtagh
Keredari (9-1) F Berry
Moonreach (9-1) W Supple
Stunning View (9-1) P Smullen
Foolish Ambition (8-12) J Heffernan
Jamaayel (8-12) D McDonogh
Song Of My Heart (8-12) W Lordan
What About Me (8-12) D Nolan

Alfred Nobel's 7lb penalty, coupled with his stable's slow start to the season, makes him eminently opposable here. I like the look of Song Of My Heart, both of whose wins last year came on soft/heavy ground (you can forget her final start in the Cheveley Park Stakes, where she ran way below form on much faster ground), but despite a winner tonight at Dundalk (who'd had a previous outing) the Wachman horses seem to be needing their first outing of the season. SOMH might just need the run, so perhaps the best bet is to lay Alfred Nobel if he's too short a price. Any thoughts?
Report Richie-O April 9, 2010 9:49 PM BST
Given what you've said about the Wachman/O'Brien runners then Keredari is a good thing, 7f should be fine

The ground is improving by the hour a very sunny and warm day forecast for Sat and Sun is to be warmer........

Perfect for Stunning View :)

Jamesp,
I wouldnt want to be laying Alfred Nobel after the way he worked @ the Curragh.
To me eye he was the most impressive of all the 1s that galloped that day.
As he seemed to be pulling double over the likes of
Cape Blanco
Beethoven
Fencing Master
just seemed a little strange he didnt nominate him as a 2000 GNS horse having already "won" @
Newmarket.

John Oxx had made a very bright start to the season (three winners from last nine runners), so Keredari has to be respected. But his debut win came on good to firm ground and he seemed to struggle a bit on the yielding surface at Leopardstown next time (albeit he finished third in a Group 3, which represented a big step up in class).
Report Richie-O April 10, 2010 1:55 PM BST
james, I wouldn't say Keredari struggled on yeilding lto, he just got a bit outpaced before staying on. It was only his second career start against more experienced horses. I'm not sure I'll be getting involved at the forecast 5/2, I was tongue in cheek when I said he was a good thing!
Report sintonian April 11, 2010 9:51 AM BST
I wouldn't rule out Wachman's second string either tbh but I assume Lordna got the pick of the two ? Ifs and buts about most in this race so just a watching brief for me.
Report geoff m April 11, 2010 9:57 AM BST
If Alfred Nobel wins would Aiden then consider him 4 the 2000 GNS or will he be thinking in terms of French GNS?
Report sintonian April 11, 2010 10:12 AM BST
You guess is as good as mine Geoff :^0
Report sj April 11, 2010 10:26 AM BST
For me so many ???? in this race, if i had to play i would play e/w stunning view.
Report redal2 April 11, 2010 10:37 AM BST
Foolish Ambition is an interesting one as sintonian says. Stout pedigree on the dam side yet she won over 6 and was 2nd over 5 admittedly on heavy ground. We can assume that the ground won't be too much of a problem but personally I'm loathe to side with fillies against the colts. I may be tempted to a small EW but in hope rather than expectation.
Report Richie-O April 11, 2010 2:33 PM BST
Money for Stunning View and Jamaayal, I'm keeping well out of it...
Report TD_Gunner April 11, 2010 2:38 PM BST
I thought Foolish Ambition might go well at a price (15.5 on here right now), obvious second string, but two good runs last year and could be one to follow.

gl.

Very impressive Keredari.
Report Richie-O April 11, 2010 2:56 PM BST
yep...yep...wish I'd backed it :)
Report sintonian April 11, 2010 3:07 PM BST
Did you think he was ? Oxx was the only trainer in the race that was in-form .. But I guess he did quicken in bad ground which takes some doing.
Report GRIZLY April 11, 2010 3:08 PM BST
keredari gave the impression that he was idling
Report sintonian April 11, 2010 3:10 PM BST
Won on GF, and Heavy now.
Report jamesp April 11, 2010 3:15 PM BST
Further evidence that the O'Brien and Wachman three-year-olds are needing their first run of the season. (O'Brien did manage to win the two-year-old maiden, though, with his second-string Samuel Morse.)
