ROUND 1 UPDATE (8:48 a.m.) -- Surprising news just as the first round gets under way from the Redstone Course -- defending champion Paul Casey has withdrawn from the event due to injury.

Bob Stevens reports: Casey tweaked a muscle in his back -- near his left shoulder -- in Wednesday's pro-am. Casey said it was not related at all to the chest muscle he hurt late last season, that he hoped it was a "sleeping wrong" kind of tweak.

Casey's spot was filled by Nationwide Tour graduate Steve Wheatcroft. Rod Pampling also withdrew before the first round. He was replaced by Andrew McLardy.

The first round of the Shell Houston Open is set to begin. Here's a look at Thursday's round:

I av a green book for a change tanks to A Kim - greened up cuz he was very lucky off the tee yesterday, he got away with a lot, his drivin was al over da shop! But he is the likliest winner imo with himself and Molder(who i've backed twice in the last 3 weeks :| ) 2 clear of the field - realistically only down to -7 have a chance to win unless the ones at the top really fook up

Of the front few Joe Ogilvie is the value imo at 17/18 only 2 back but Kim defo the likliest winner ;)
