Impossible not to think that Dazzling won't be competing in top middle distance races next year. A strong athletic filly, she was up against a very decent proven Dermot Weld maiden on Sunday.
She was unsuited by the slow pace and had to make her own pace. Green and with huge scope to improve, she was never asked a serious question and only had to be nudged a bit to draw right away, totally outclassing the opposition.
A full sister to Roderick O'Connor, she is obviously bred to need 12 furlongs and looks to me to be exactly the sort of 2yo you see over the years. More backward than the faster sorts but who will develop into an altogether better 3yo than the smaller faster sorts seen earlier in the season.
Interesting that Aiden said she was expected to need the race, she outperformed these expectations.
Scandalously only 16/1 was available after the race, most of this has now gone, and its hard to argue this is value. However she is bound to shorten when she takes the Fillies Mile.
Visually DAZZLING was very impressive in 8F Maiden debut, suggesting she could progress over further. Sister to Roderic O'Connor who was Irish 2000 Guineas winner, but unsighted at 3 goes over 10-12F. Dan and Grand-Dam seem to be miler stock too.
Wouldn't take the Oaks prices because of the question on stamina, but visually wouldn't be put off her staying further.
Interesting if tried in juvenile Group race next, to see how she fares, and could be one that Coolmore try in Irish Guineas and English Oaks, usually only a week or so apart.
