Someone else asked about this filly on the Antepost forum a couple of days ago. Jeremy Noseda said a couple of weeks ago that RECKONING is very well and that they are considering the 1000 Guineas for her. She showed plenty of speed on her debut over a mile at Doncaster, travelling smoothly and then quickening clear once she hit the front, but then hung badly left under pressure (through greenness?) in the closing stages and nearly handed the race to the runner-up HEPWORTH. She's by Danehill Dancer out of a winning miler, which suggests she may not stay much beyond a mile, but her dam is from the family of Soldier Of Fortune and she's clearly not short of stamina. She would be an interesting contender for one of the Guineas trials, but it's hard to know what her best trip will turn out to be.
Personally, I thought that the runner-up in that Doncaster maiden (HEPWORTH) was the real eye-catcher - she was green but made up plenty of ground in the latter stages, helped by the winner hanging, and is sure to improve over middle distances. |

Immediately after that Doncaster race, I pencilled in RECKONING as my 1000G horse and the more stoutly bred HEPWORTH as my Oaks horse. It's encouraging to hear Noseda is going for a Guineas trial and the 66 available has to be snapped up. I'm very keen on both of these. Check out the replay of that Donny win.

Well, RECKONING has not been entered for either of the Guineas trials this week, so I guess she's taking longer than expected to come to hand. The trainer feels that she may be more of an Oaks filly than a Guineas one, so perhaps she takes after the SOLDIER OF FORTUNE side of the family...
