I thought he was one to follow after his reappearance win at Sandown. He did it in a very good time, which was well up to the standard of what it usually takes to win this race. I suppose Captain Bertie didn't exactly frank the form next time, but in my view, it's not unusual for one from that yard to disappoint after a big run. Tazahum went on to a hard fought win over Fury last time, but that race turned into a sprint, it wouldn't have taken much out of him and he's a value favourite.

Yeah, Zil, I have CB narrowly best in at the weights today, it's not a race I'll be betting in but it wouldn't surprise me if he came back to form. I find the Hills yard a bit like Johnston's in that respect, but to be fair maybe the race came a bit soon. Do you think the draw will matter in the 5.00 then, Zil?

Think if you look at big field 10f Ascot form it will show that wise runners have a bad record, the bend comes up quite near the start and they have to loose ground or use up quite a bit of petrol

Mind you the ground could be a bit boggy by then !!!

mordin likes this as well. given that tazahum seemed to want further, was
pretty impressive that he managed to reel in fury in the final furlong
when that race turned into a sprint.

The one I like in that race, Zil, is Belgian Bill, I was impressed with him last time, like you say though, the draw is a headache.

Time for me to give up I think with those kind of results on that ground Cry

Gonna give Tazahum another go here. I don't think he got the extra 2 furlongs last time and the soft ground didn't help. In any case, it turned out to be a hotter race than I expected and I don't think he would've beaten Pisco Sour even if he had stayed. With Tazahum carrying 4lbs more I rate there's very little between the front three in the betting today and more depends on which horse is most likely to run to form. The fav looks underpriced (nothing new for a Noseda horse) and I'm confident Tazahum will at least go very close, so he's the value, for me.

I hate to keep making excuses for horses but as there was no pace on today I'll still be giving Tazahum another chance. Hopefully there will be a better gallop next time so R Hills' lack of tactical nous won't be a factor.
