Backed him before it started (ave odds 8.93)

Great start but gutted that Moore - from a not great book of rides - gets  a 1st 2nd and a 3rd

Tommorow is the key day . You have to expect So You Think wins so Hughes has to get at least 1 winner and 1 2nd from Wednesday.
Report jayo June 14, 2011 8:20 PM BST
I backed him too great start - moore robbed a second was hoping magic city would run into a place. Not 100% on so you think reckon something will beat him. Hoping for 2 hughes winners tomorrow, strong suit, music show, best terms & humdrum all have great chances. hooping for 2 winners tomorrow, moore will have one at most, hoping hughes will have 1 at least. Hughes still a vg price imo

He has some chances on Thursday too

Report Trusty June 15, 2011 5:07 PM BST
cant believe he is not odds on, good chance in last as well.
Report tobermory June 15, 2011 5:09 PM BST
I think 4 will win it

with 3 he will be beat on places

so just one more
Report Somerset_Moan June 15, 2011 8:43 PM BST
I too have a nice bet at 8s... will start to lay it off tomorrow I think
Report tobermory June 16, 2011 2:55 PM BST
Saturday is a worry; Moore's best day possibly , very little for Hughes.

Needs to still be 2 up end of Friday IMO
Report tobermory June 16, 2011 3:09 PM BST
Cry Field Of Miracles would have clinched it

That was his best ride of the week, unlucky
Report Trusty June 16, 2011 3:15 PM BST
but a second helps in the countback
Report tobermory June 16, 2011 10:43 PM BST
It would see off anyone other than Moore that gets to 3 . But he won't beat Moore on places, 2-4 down on 2nds .

I think that Field Of Miracles may well be the turning point.

Hughes has only 3 rides tommorow,Moore has a lot better, then Saturday Moore has an odds on fav in both the first 2 races and a 3/1 ish fav in one of the handicaps.
Report Trusty June 17, 2011 9:20 AM BST
yes but I would rather be 3/1 ahead than hoping on my short favs for Saturday....plenty can happen even today. Hughes has Memory and a good chance in the opener tomorrow with Fort Bastion against Maybe imo.

Await the Dawn is the EVS shot but nothing in breeding suggests that soft ground will be favoured. Ebven Hughes mount Harris Tweed who was EVS FTO against SNA will be better suited by the likely going and 20 is more than fair.

Bottom line is a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Moore has had some very poor rides this week and that can affect judgement.

Talking my own book , I know.
Report tobermory June 17, 2011 3:03 PM BST
3-1 ahead going into Saturday is certainly preferable, yes.

I'd make Moore strong fav if he was only 2-3 down tonight though.
Report AIDSMcGUG June 17, 2011 6:58 PM BST
moore odds on in 1st 2 race tomorrow tho Cry
Report Trusty June 17, 2011 9:04 PM BST
doesn't matter....moore not riding with confidence. Fort Bastion more chance than Maybe imo and Await the Dawn is not a shoe in. One goes down; it's all over.

Damn... close, but no cigar
Report Rondetto July 17, 2011 11:52 AM BST
Hughsie couldnt give a rats a$$ about winning the title and by all accounts has no intentions of killing himself trying to win it.

Ryan Moore could win it if he had a mind to but there are bigger things for him to be thinking about like winning Group 1's on outside rides and missing winning meetings to do so. When the evening meetings stop he should gain some ground but I doubt it will be enough.

Paul Hanagan is doing exceptionally well despite the fact Richard Fahey's string won so many races over the last 2 seasons they are now badly handicapped.

No doubt the has a lot of young horses who will be taking the track by storm shortly and that should help.

Hanagan seems more popular than ever with various trainers usining his services whenever they can.

He'll be all out to win it again and be a very hard a man to pass. Richard Hughes is more likely to be sitting at home watching re-runs of Bonanza with his family than chasing round the all weather like he was last season

The thread was for Hughesy to win top jockey at Royal Ascot Rondetto.
