anyone concerned about the draw for shumoos?

Should have dried out more tomorrow, so maybe less bias. I have to say Shumoos at Ascot is one
of the most impressive racing debuts I have ever seen. The 20-1+ avialble for the Guineas could be a distant memory soon.

On the evidence of her maiden win I dont think it matters where she's drawn. Hopefully off a strong pace she will be just held up and then stretch away at the furlong pole. Good luck with that lay lay lay strategy patsy by the way. Sounds very well thought out!

She's the best juvenile filly I've seen this year and the stiff 5F will be up her street.Think she will have too much class for the american raider who may be tying up with a furlong to go.

yeah she's got that extra bit of class and ability to quicken that
you need to win a two year old race at royal ascot. clearly you get
these horses that can run very fast times and win their maidens by
large margins but on the day they get found out.

what about Frederick hacking up myht... adds substance to the form?

Anyone remember the hopes for Magic City after its debut

I have watched that a few times, she must have lost about 15 lengths,drawn against the fence travelled
across the course for a bit of cover and back again to overtake.

Her Maiden win was breathtaking and she deserves every bit of credit she has been given and even tho i would expect her to win tomorrow i certainly wont be taking 5/4 about a 2yo maiden winner going into royal ascot,but i shall sit back and enjoy what she produces which should be completely devastating if reproducing or improving on her first start

I'm on her side and not too worried about the draw.  The thing about the haydock race was they went a crawl and although she quicken in a most impressive manor, the time was still slow.  If they go flat out will it blunt her speed at the end?

Could be drawn in Windsor and would still win

If there were 20 runners then maybe it would be a worry, with just 14 it shouldn't be too bad.

SHUMOOS IS LUDICROUSLY FAST

The seriously fast time clocked by FREDERICK ENGELS (37) in a conditions race at Musselburgh prompted me to go back and look at the performance of SHUMOOS (39) who had simply run away from him a week earlier at Haydock.

At Haydock Shumoos ran 0.38 of a second slower than the useful 3YO Apace in the next race but came home 1.2 seconds faster over the last three furlongs, showing an amazing burst of acceleration in the last furlong. When I use my sectional timing formula to adjust the speed rating it suggests a serious Group 1 class performance by Shumoos.

I will not hear of defeat for Shumoos in the Queen Mary. In fact I’d be rather interested if this close coupled, very pacey filly went on to tackle older horses over five furlongs as she looks pretty much unstoppable over the minimum distance to me.

Frederick Engels ran green when second to Shumoos. He was still a little green at Edinburgh but went right away from his rivals over the last two furlongs. He’s some way behind the filly but still looks to have a very good chance in the Norfolk and looks like he’d get six furlongs to me from his physique and the way he was finishing.

I was fortunate enough to see this one work a few times before it's debut and by christ does it work like a monster.

Having said that Meehan aften has them a little short 1st time up and whilst I backed it at 10/1 on it's home work it was not half the bet it would have been had it had a run.

I HONESTLY believe this is something very special indeed and have bet it accordingly ina double with Fred today, the one it beat.

IMO it could be in stall 99 with a padlock on and she still wins 4 lengths hard on the snaff.

Get it ready will be the cry at the furlong pole------------------- ( I hope )

A fast pace should actually suit her. She is bred to excel at longer trips. She seems to me to be one of those 2 year olds which mature much earlier than her rivals. She has speed and stamina.

huge draw bias at ascot again this year..for championship racing its a joke...not a level playin field...a  low draw on a straight course should never get a horse beaten but year in year out we see it at ascot....in answer to ur question i would seriously worry about thr draw for Shumoos but with only 14 runners and the ground drying she could overcome it..i dont agree wit nick mordins speed figures on the filly..i have her running nearly 5 secs slower than standard with good to firm ground taken into account..not group one figures more like class 5 hcap figures..i have charlotte rosina way ahead of her on speed figures with dozy 2nd and vocational 3rd...in fact Shumoos only rates 10th fastest of all the runners in 2 morrs race....food for thought..

I take it you adjusted for the strong headwind, we will see whether she is Grp1 potential or class 5 handicapper tomorrow.I think Nick was extrapolating from sectional times due to the crawl through the first couple of furlongs.

Will the horse like RA ,sire Distorted Humour has a terrible record over courses similar to Ascot with an uphill finish and 0/20 wins in races with a class range A-C. Added to that there is always the chance after such a good run lto that it might bounce. Not sure it is now the cert as when I first looked at it given there are so many unexposed horses . Looking at the breeding I think the Dansili horse could be fly in the ointment ?

going by that u probs had frederick a 200/1 shot to win today.

shumoos looks a banker, the draw bias appears a rather large concern.

the more I keep looking at the results of these races, the more i'm concerned about the draw for shumoosh. we just
saw the relatively unfancied lolly for dolly get the golden strip up the stands rail. of all the fillies in the queen mary,
fire lily is surely the best drawn.

well she'll still have to track over, though with 14 runners shouldn't really be a problem.

more concern would be this favourite in the norfolk tomorrow, drawn very low for 20 odd runners.

almost all winners on the straight course have tracked across to the stands side rail. those on the far side
finished out with the washing.

I should have said those who ran on the far side in the hunt cup finished out with the washing.

just beaten by a better horse on the day, no excuses.

this crown dependancy in the norfolk looks a huge price considering the
form of the hannon team.
