They weigh out and if they are supposed to be 9 stone for example, but are actually 9 stone 1 pound, they are said to be carrying one pound overweight.

After the race they weigh in and they are supposed to be the same weight as they were when they weighed out, their weight includes the saddle and any added weights.

Wouldn't riding say the National take a pound of weight out of the jockey?

racing shoots itself in the foot again. a 'must see ' race ,race of the week, the duel  , etc then gets the shine taken off it by a jockey who 'picked up the wrong boots ' .really. 2lb o/w and dont forget you are losing weight in the race conditions /heat ...ridiculous from a top jockey. try and explain it to anyone who has a casual interest in racing . flapping stuff.

There is an allowance for weight gain during a race. This is because if you get a soaking you will be heavier.

Missed the weighed in - are you saying he was TWO POUNDS OVER WHEN HE WEIGHED IN???

IF SO... that is equal to the length he was beaten... WACT he is... get in the effing sauna and get the weight off you useless plonkerrr... I actually backed both cc AND goldie to equal stakes so made a small 25% profit with which I very happy... but the fact she seemed not to quite fire when the button was pushed, was a little lively in the ring and the jock was 2lb (apparently) O/W will have made a big difference...  actually came out of the race much more impressed with Goldie than I was with Canford, having never seen her in the flesh before... lovely light frame, perky on her toes... cheeky with her trainer afterwards, bucking him - he was gentle as a lamb with her... she will win a couple more Grp1s before the end of the season and may well beat CC at Goodwood if shew turns up (Not entered) or somewhere else because she wasn't quite at her best today and the jock wasn't quite at his best either and obviosuly either forgot to give the missis a portion last night or had too many croissants on the eurostar...
