Pastoral Player for me, one run, one win this season, a literal reading of his Newmarket run gives him the clear beating of hawkeye, deliberately kept fresh for this by Hughie Morrison who is not the worst trainer for these big handicaps?.

Macs powe doesnt have the class to get his neck in front in a race like this. Yeh conditions have changed for the worse as regards Pastoral Player, just looking at "Evens and Odds" drawn perfect in 28 excellent 2nd on soft ground in the 2009 stewards cup behind Genki who runs in the Jubilee.
There is of course though the Dandy factor to be taken into consideration.
