Has anyone been in the Heath Enclosure before, and how does it rank up against the Silver Ring? A group of us are attending Ascot on the Saturday and left it too late to purchase Silver Ring tickets, and they are now sold out. After ringing the couse they mentioned the Heath, and that this is a pay on the day enclosure which does not sell out.
Is it worth trying touts for the Silver Ring on the day, and if so does anyone know what the going rate is about an hour before racing?
Any info would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

if i was you i wouldnt be to dissapointed that you cant get in the silver ring on saturday,they let far to many in now ands its very uncomfortable.theres plenty on the heath to enable you to have a good day out. |

put a thread up on h/racing but no reply, anyway never been to r ascot so my questions might seem silly to most, is the heath on opposite side to the grandstands and is it ok to see the racing , and is the grandstand much better than silver ring, also a special anniversary next year for us and fancy dining in style etc is the royal enclosure that much better to pay the extra . and is there facilities on the heath etc . thanks

the heath is over the other side from the grandstand the view is ok as with anywhere at royal ascot the only really good views of the racing are up in the seats.the silver ring has everything food and drink wise and has plenty of shelter if it rains.the royal enclosure is invitation only so i guess that rules that out for you. as i bet in both the silver ring and the heath i should really be encourageing people to go in them and i would normally,however as its your first visit and a special occasion you really need to go in tatts {grandstand }wheather your a paddock judge or not its nice to see the horses paradeing,the bandstand after racing is also well worth a visit.i never missed for many years in fact i remember watching marwell win the 1981 king stand then on a friday the place was only half full,most thought the meeting ended in those days after the gold cup,the saturday wasnt even royal ascot it was quiet and badly lacking in quality racing.now those two days are the busiest in fact unless you plan to go for the full week i would suggest you avoided those two days,sadly there not very pleasant friday is full of those load mouth city boys,saturday is simalar to most summer saturdays,i am sure you are aware tuesday provides by far the best days racing,and whilst thursday is very busy it is also a very enjoyable day. |

royal ascot is usually around our wedding anniversary so we use to stop at a hotel in windsor on the monday and tuesday do windsor races monday night and ascot on the tuesday, great days out but do pay that extra few quid and get grandstand tickets |

ive had a good look at web site etc, and as next year is a bit special im thinking of going for 3 days , day 1 fine cuisine in hospitality royal enclosure all the trimmings talking quite a lot of money between 600 /1000 each but treat, then the heath with own picnic, and 3 rd day grandstand again with resteraunt meal much cheaper there approx 150. so start saving now , and thanks again.and ive fab guest house with own swimming pool already sorted in beaconsfield highly recommended for couple , approx 30 mins from course id say

Thanks for the advice guys. I've been in the Silver Ring on Gold Cup day and on the Royal Saturday prior to the course redevelopment, and the main plus seemed to be that there were elevated terraces. This will be my first time back since the redevelopment. Looking forward to the battle for getting served at the bar!
