My Mrs has just found a rather nice and bronze Greyhound trophy in a local antiques shop.
It is of a decent size and heavy.
It is mounted on a wooden plaque and entitled
CORAL
ROMFORD GREYHOUND STADIUM
WINNER 2007
It doesn't have a race title but it also doesn't look like a trophy and graded racer ownership would get. I will try to get a picture loaded as soon as I can.
I have bought it either way but any further knowledge would be great. Thanks in advance all.

It's a form of metal....bronze would be pushing it.

Looks like it's a standard Open race winners trophy. Nice all the same.

Be suprised if its bronze, probably spelter of some sort, small scratch with a pin underneath will reveal abrown/red chue if bronze, silver colour if spelter.

Spot on Glasgow.....It's just an Open winners trophy....seemingly the standard one

The main thing is you like it Horatio, not always the most expensive that look the part. Its what you hear a lot of dealers say " Only buy something if you like it youself".

It is attractive enough GC although the Mrs has refused it being put up anywhere
 My old grader never came near to winning an Open....he only won 4 (out of 44!) races for us as a small first time out work syndicate......we still remember him very fondly but he wasn't much cop bless him. They are lovely trophies....I don't think I could ever part with one as it would feel like you are binning the memory but I am sure there is a reason behind it....it was inexpensive so no bother. |
