Thanks for this Nanny. Great viewing. Was about the time I first went there. Some familiar faces. Happy days.

Enjoyed that nanny - thanks very much.  Good old Leo.  So many simple, ordinary people like him lost a way of life when their tracks were closed down.  That is rarely appreciated.  Every time he slapped a bit of paint on he helped to keep the place going.  And ordinary spectators lost their social nights out.  Livelihoods lost too.  Such a shame.
Wasn’t overly impressed by the interviewer/presenter who seemed to want to ridicule a bit.  Briefed by the BBC presumably who by that time I suppose was on the turn, taking on board their present day bigotry against any animal sport.

A great watch! I so miss that wonderful track and its electric atmosphere - as well as the rich cast of characters.

When it shut, it was an act of vandalism - no disguising that.

Due to the earlier demise of Hackney wick and the later closure of Upton Park, the East end has lost it soul now.

Mind you, Leo must have hastened the end a bit! Simply because the Chandlers must have been spending a fortune on paint the way Leo slings it here there and everywhere!!!

Such great days, though.

(BTW, I think the presenter of the film was John Pilger and I agree with Loyal H. he does take the mick out of Leo just a bit but, with Leo, only us Stow regulars were entitled to do that - and how Leo loved the banter when we did!)
