Yes Case that is almost certainly the plan as soon as the Council grant change of use. The whole site is surrounded by new housing most recently in what was the car park.
They site lack of attendance as the main reason but the public parking now behind the stand is so small they wouldn't cope if anyone did turn up. As I commented on the Crayford thread I attend about 8 times a year including all 4 rounds of the Produce. It often feels like i'm the only person there who is not Kennel / track staff or an owner. The decline really started when they scrapped stand alone Saturday night meetings which were well attended. We then had Sunday nights, there were a few in, but the final straw was when we had a schedule in 2023, when the restaurant closed for good, with no evening meetings other than Produce Final night when they switched slots with Newcastle, this did not seem to be advertised anywhere, the first i knew was when they carried out the draw in the bar the previous Thursday afternoon after the semis. At least I was privileged enough to witness Queen Joni smash the track record that afternoon. In consequence I think I was the only casual attendee that night. We even started the evening with two bookies rather than usual one, the one who wasn't rostered left after the third race The damage was then done and attendance even with the return of evenings in 2024 with Thursday opens saw little casual interest. I persuaded three mates to attend last years Produce final and again we seemed to be the only casuals there. As for the future may make the trip to Oxford a couple of times a next year especially if they get hurdles up and running and take on the Category Ones. |

Heard from a retired bookmaker friend that Baldies have instructed their managers that it is up to them whether they want to display Grehound Raceform in their respective shops. Dog bets now a rarity in some shops.
Not long now before the game crumbles to dust. |
