case you really need to read the article in full as most of your questions are answered and i read it as something positive for the sport......the point you make concerning over racing is agreed by virtually everyone who has an opinion.....even the crayford rm says he has partitioned for one less meeting a week but it has fallen on deaf ears...i am not convinced there are or will be thousands of greyhounds in plight....the rehoming aspect will always be busy by i believe the overwhelming majority of greyhound owners do the correct thing with their dogs in that if they cant take them home they pay for the care of those greyhounds until they are rehomed......if the game is coming to an end then there is not much the individual can do about it other than support group actions like the welsh issue....

There is no mention of Trainers owning dogs in their Kennels Winja , it stands to reason that no matter how good the Intentions of the Trainers are, they cannot afford to keep all retired Dogs , As for Racing by 2 pm today over 300 Dogs will have raced around Empty stadiums ,What percentage of those dogs are owned by Trainers ?
What is the actual point of this Racing ? of What benefit to the sport is it ? I wonder how many of the 300 that ran have a nice sofa waiting for them at the end of their so called Career ,Endless Sprints , Evening Meetings that Mainly end around 9.30 4 and 5 dog races ,This is not what Greyhound racing is About ,Its like some kind of production line that is running ,The operating button firmly Under the thumb of the Bookmakers Some mention about Scotland , There cannot be more than 5 full time trainers left north of the border as For the North east Another Disaster area with not even a meeting on a Saturday night ,One Track holding one Meeting a week on a Sunday afternoon ,and People are going on about a track in Wales |

the article was not about rehoming or owners or daytime racing it was about veterinary support for tracks and trainers....you are conflating issues rather than commenting on the actual purpose of the article....with regard to the welsh support its not about the one track currently operating in wales its about keeping the sport legitimate so any future venture in wales could progress.....

If they were interested in the Welfare of Greyhounds , they would not have another 350 dogs involved in Pointless racing before 2 pm tomorrow
This racing is Animal Exploitation , Nothing more Nothing less ,The sport has become Rancid .I have pointed out a Major issue That has Not been Covered in an Article Titled "We all have a role to play when it comes to welfare" Why is this Insane amount of Racing allowed Is my Question Never Mind Vets ,As for Wales there are many Antis a movement that has become stronger year by year , I hope the track is allowed to Go ahead , But there are far deeper issues in this sport that need addressing ... Whats the percentage of Kennel owned Dogs at these meetings ? I had a quick Glance at Perry Barr Earlier ,One race, Trainer had 3 dogs, said 3 dogs Kennel owned, That was one race I looked at ,Mark my Words this will go TITS up ... |

Since the tote tried to do the A.C. with me, which I point blank refused to do course, I do pop into local shops to do placepots when I'm out and about and also get to see a few of the old faces as well. It's absolutely staggering the amount of greyhound races there are going on.
Starting at 08.12 with Suffolk Downs until last orders at 21.28. Not only the U.K.but also 8 dog races from Australia on top. It's absolutely insane the amount of racing and it's not as if the few oldtimers were betting on them anyway, only on horse racing that I saw and a couple of youngsters on the SSBT's doing football bets I would assume. |

your a good guy case and have the right to highlight the issues you raise but your head will explode if you let these things get under your skin.....we can only deal with the things we can control so unless the money that would be required to change the course of the sport could be found its pointless getting upset because money always talks......but i would say robert emery at crayford has no owners and wants no owners and there is nothing wrong with that or other trainers who share his view......

Your Right Winja ,I am not saying it cannot Work , and I am not suggesting that trainers would deliberately abandon ship , But what is it all For ?
It does get under my Skin ,And I will Kick , But when you are watching something Gradually go Sideways over a period of years ,That no one in A position to say something does ,It annoys me , I cant do anything about it I wish I could , But its all Fully acceptable to most of the Mob we listen to day in Day out , I will say Dave C has made Comments , Tony knows the whole lot is up in the Air , Even JOE is making Comments ,We need Change, how to go about that is the million dollar Question. Its seems like the sport is being Held to Ransom , It what fookin insane world was it ever though that having a Greyhound Race every 4 or 5 Minutes of the day is Needed ? its fooking madness , I'm not taking it back it is Animal Exploitation ,The Tree Huggers are too thick to even notice that.. |

As for Scotland Being Mentioned in Kennel inspections , Must be a couple of Die Hards left training ,The Crystal Bloke must spend his Life on the Road another Guy brings Dogs to Pelaw . Shawfield was a cracking running track ,The stadium was falling down , Nothing done ,Just sad and sums this sport up ,That for one should have been saved and Given a Bags Contract .. If only to keep the Sport alive in Scotland ..

I had no idea that Crayford had no owners now or have I misunderstood your post, winja?

only robert emery sparrow.....was on the rpgtv show a few weeks back and explained that he owned every dog and did not want owners and in fact it was only because he was offered the crayford contract on the understanding he could own all his dogs that he made the life changing decision to train full time.......he also says he does not gamble and i believe that is probably true......he has quite a few dogs with long losing sequences including finulagh magic who after 40 races without a win finally obliged last friday on her 41st attempt......

on a separate subject if its true that oxford used the new traps for a final then shipped them of to towcester resulting in a dog getting their head caught in the failed old traps....i have seen the video it is sickening....then surely boothby needs to be severely reprimanded and his tracks closed until works to ensure the permanent safety of the greyhounds is secured....

By:
Thanks winja and yes my misunderstanding was with Emery with me thinking that he was something to do with management rather than a trainer.
That's me being a little out of touch these days. |
|
By:
no problem sparrow....in fact picking up on casemoneys point the split between privately owned and trainer owned greyhounds at Crayford is probably 50%/50% anyhow.....

They seemed to have missed out on the Gallows Traps issue , Strange that

Read it Earlier Wedge , we also have them banging on Last night about dog Shortages ,Short field races ETC , more bollix
When u have 300 Dogs running round empty Stadiums before 2pm every day There will be a shortage , Infact I think the Issue Of this cannon fodder racing Outweighs any other issue in the Sport .. JK will be at Towcester Derby Night in his Dicky Bow All trap issues forgotten , The old back slappers ball ,what a great Derby we had |
