Thoughts? It's off to auction!! Rare as a hen's tooth. The winners jacket from the Ballyregan Bob vs Scurlogue Champ showdown (damp squib) at Wembley in December 1985. Belongs to a friend who had no idea even what it was, so I helped with documenting it - the provenance is excellent, given to my friends father by George Curtis (they were mates!). Funny that it hasn't travelled far - it currently resides about 1 mile from where Bob was trained.

Agreed sparrow. Apparently the dog was forward planned to go in the Derby but when White City was sold and closed they didn't fancy the tight turns of Wimbledon.

.... Just a shame interest in the sport is at an all time low, whatever it achieves will be nothing compared to what it would of fetched a year or two after the race. On the subject of George Curtis, what a proper Gent he was, his book being a must for any greyhound enthusiast.

I was at Wimbledon the night he beat Jet Circle a distance, didn't know much about Bob at the time, I just was stunned the way he won, I believe Jet Circle [ Ithink that was his name] went on and won the St Leger, memory not so good. cheers.

Graham Budd Auction on October 16th at the National Horseracing Museum. Lot 1 is the Bob jacket. Lot 2 is ours too - Some of you will remember Glin Bridge. Mostly a Horseracing sale but a few Greyhound Racing lots.

I've wondered what time B.B. would have clocked at Catford over the 718 trip. Scurlogue Champ held the clock with 45.58 on 20-10-84.
A grader, namely Lone Keel, won by 15 lengths on his 8 bend debut in 46.15. A time that was way beyond any other S1 at the track. Bob would surely have beaten that track record , if he handled the track of course.

Hi Blackburn any idea what the oil painting of Sir Henry Cecil made, thanks.
On the Bob jacket doesn't sound much really considering the amazing dogs talent, would of thought Hove would of bid and put it on show.

Shame, a meagre amount for a once iconic item, you had 2 things against you, firstly the Greyhound game is at an all time low, secondly selling and buying at auction now has become near on impossible with the Huge commission rates, some wanting another third on top of the selling price. Shame it wasn't on the market about 20 yrs ago when it would have made loads more.
