they need to prove some form of inherent cruelty within the sport which does not exist so i dont believe they will fulfil their agenda.....they will always find the odd sh1thouse but just go to any dogs home to find similar sh1thouses in everyday life......

agree with you Winja, just find it very odd that such well known and i thought respected charities have come out at the same time... right pain!

I hope your Right Winja ,But Things ain't what they used to be in Today's Woke World, So many ready to Jump on any bandwagon,Suprised the Dogs Trust involved they do a lot Re homing ,Perhaps there's a bit too much re homing , Percentage of dogs not being homed by Owners could be a stand out.. No syndicate should be sending any dog to a Homing Center , No Couch No Buy imo ..
So many Trainer owned Or is Bookie owned ? Dogs being fired round Tracks relentlessly in Empty Stadiums all hours of the day For no other Purpose than Betting Is that really what the Sport is About ? Perhaps if that's what we need to rely on to Fund Racing ,its time for a reset ,Before it is too late ... Its a certainty the Wheels will fall off if we stay on that Route . As for the Rest could someone Direct them towards the Halal butcher Trade TYIA |

Perhaps if that's what we need to rely on to Fund Racing ,its time for a reset ,Before it is too late ... I have been on BF for nearly 20 years now, and that is one one the most sensible comments I have read on the greyhound forum. Sadly, graded racing just a numbers game now It's a real shame to me how the game (can't call it sport any more) has gone. I was a punter, owner, flapper, and had many very happy years involved with greyhounds and the craic with friends. My nearest track is Kinsley. I keep saying to myself I will make a visit one day to see how things are, but I cannot raise the motivation to go. I went into a Billys the other week when on holiday.First time in a bookies for years. There was "Virtual Horseracing" being screened. I thought - do people actually bet on this ffs. Winner was 16/1 |

When the Dogs are forgotten about the Game has Ended ,Are we there yet ? How many times are dogs flagged as running with injuries etc , I know of Dogs shifted home to Homing centers because they are dropping down the grades Owners unable or not willing to pay Kennel fees ,Far too much much pointless racing , a High percentage of the sport is now centered around bookmaking Because without those payments the sport can't operate , races timed
as to when Shops are open WTF is betting on Dogs at 8 in the morning is anyones guess ,and Evening out practically finished due to people basically been slung out on the Road at 9.30 , Never ending sprint racing at certain Tracks ,How often do you see a sprint race when there is not Trouble in it ? How can that be good for the Sport ? I have said it all before many have nothing changes , so many are hardly involved any more it beggars belief what has happened ,Proper dog people have left the game ,Never to be replaced IMO ,Track closures being the main cause most Dog men stuck to one track .. As for the Dogs trust are they not also the Greyhound Trust ? |

i neva used to miss a meeting at Stanley (flapping track wiv sister track Pelaw about 5 miles down the road - also flapping at the time 70s-90s) and i learned a long time ago that the game was basically fooked cos Stanley which was a much superior track to Pelaw is now a housing estate (Murray Park for the nostalgic amongst you) whilst Pelaw is basking in bookmakers money whilst surviving on selling out for Sunday dinners
![]() ![]() - now bear in mind Pelaw was a 5 dogs per race entity when flapping and that was tight enuf so nee wunda the bookies got em on side wiv 6 runner races - the bags game is just cannon fodder for the enemy unfortunately and sad days for the sport wiv the latest attack on it.Long after they hav ruined the sport they will just rely on the Aussie stuff cos they dont giv a donald duck sadly about a once gr8 sport - here today gone tomorrow ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Still not a dog meeting on a Saturday night in the North East ,unreal tbh
|
|
By:
not enough dogs @ pelaw for 2 meetings a week
|

10 races , Perhaps including Intertrack with Either Sunderland Or toon ? Couple of Saturdays a month ? Lets face it if there are no Other Races available at the Track there never will be Enough Dogs , As stated they appear to be Happy with the Roasts going out on a Sunday ,Incredible not a Dog meeting on a Saturday night in the North east ,Give it a go try drum up Interest if it Don't work for two Nights a Month its not the End of the World ,At least you tried ,return to the Sunday Meeting ,Pelaw not alone, the other Two seem to have little interest unless Bookies money involved . What we Doing going forward Breeding dogs for bookmakers ? Is that what the Sport is ,Or has become ,If so it won't last and Rightly so ,Let it Go .. IMVHO . Far too much Bookie Racing .unsustainable and Destroying
the Sport as a Spectacle .. Just off to set me Alarm for Kilkenny in the Morning Is that actually shown in the Shops ? WTF is that all About ? Mind you no Sprints on the card .. |
