A railer and a wide runner hitting the line together at either of those tracks is nigh on impossible to call and be completely confident about the outcome.
Even after more years than I care to remember I still call it wrong every now and then.
There used to be photo betting at my local tracks, Dave Richardson @ Catford and John Henwood at Wimbledon, when the ring used to be heaving and added to the atmosphere I always thought.
Richardson is still standing amazingly enough for those that can recall him, I first came across him when I was a youngster, 1974 ish. I always see him at Plumpton, Brighton and no doubt I'll see him at Fontwell this Friday.
I did ask him one afternoon why does he still operate with such thin pickings to be had as an on course layer?
He said "I still love it."
I said, "So do I Dave."
