It’s just a mad track Fattie, can’t work out what happens at those boxes, but the winner been paceless out of the tins at both Hove and CP. I gave up the track a good while ago, just a shame that the derby is now literally bingo at the boxes though.

Had a 9/1 winner there last week because I bother to find dogs who race it, and particularly the bends, smoothly. My main complaint about the place has never even been mentioned as a grump by anyone else and that is how distant it is from the viewing customer. Traditionally, anywhere and everywhere, we had the choice of being barely six feet away from the action - that is impossible there. The trainers like it because of the excellent facilities for them and their dogs. And every track has had the opportunity of providing that and hasn't managed it. So far anyway. And please don;t anyone run away with the notion that I feel it is ideal because I don't. But for a Derby it is clearly the best we have got.

LH… fair play to you for finding the 9/1 winner, was obviously well fancied! With so much racing and tracks available I will focus on those where the traps open level and dogs don’t have 20/30 spots between their sectionals. I’ll take 1.01 that no one makes the gaff pay. As for the facilities, they are very much the best we have over here, still wouldn’t get into the top 20 Australian tracks. Viewing isn’t too bad from certain areas but far from ideal. If they could only listen to plenty of experienced greyhound folk on what needs doing to the track itself, all hope wouldn’t be lost.

You keep making these generalisations. Are we to assume that you have visited the "top twenty" tracks in Australia? And, if I may ask, what has Australia got to do with the subject in hand?
Here's the dog and here's the note I made and put in to my GbGb "Dogs Kennel".
Amaze Me Seb - My comment: Won a Stakes ÂŁ250 at Towc. 17/4 and ran the track really well, coming from behind to beat Mikey;s Heir. Has to be kept in mind.
Everybody can do that, maybe even you if you really watched the dogs instead of constantly moaning about bent hare-drivers etc:s etc;s etc's.
I don;t back dogs because they are fancied, I back them because I fancy them. So your sarcasm is lost on me.

You are dead right honcho you need to do your homework. I had a look yesterday without doing that bombed also backed one of hennessey's that finished last went off nearer evens on all form I thought probably four or five lengths better than the rest the inside looks interesting to say the least. I love my dog racing cannot imagine I'm having much of an interest this year apart from dogs that we know travel and go round perhaps somebody could be good enough to point some of them out as the comp progresses. You can probably say horse for course at most tracks possibly more here. Looks like it takes a lot of running through that need to add might be wrong.

A very good winner indeed LH. Remind me how the derby form stood up with last years winner..? I believe that would be Storm Falcon… sectional on derby final night 4:08. Sectional last weekend 4:36. So there we have the point I was making about the bingo break boxes. Good luck if you make it pay there, I’ll stick to tracks that don’t have the failings of Towcester.

Speaking of Australia, I lived in Lane Cove in North Sydney for a year and would often go to Wentworth Park, their premier track. 25 years ago all the layers had signs up saying will lay to a monkey, some a grand. They were contractually obliged to do that and nobody complained.
Without wishing to be a broken record, actually being at Towcester is truly a soulless experience and not one I'll ever repeat.

I would say it is no more uncommon for winners to come from behind at Towcs. than anywhere else but I don;t keep stats. so am out on a limb. However of the three Derby finals run there two winners have come from behind, behind the early leader that is. And of the two most recent at Nottingham early pace was uppermost with both winners pinging out and leading all the way. So coming from behind is not common to recent Derby winners, anywhere. One thing I ask of this year;s Derby is that that bozo Lawrence isn;t employed to give us commentaries. How awful was he on final night last year?!
