Two very poor running tracks as we all know and neither fit for purpose.

the sport has become that bad as in the end the only option was towcester central park pulled out due to concerns of having crowds

Mate had a meal in a restaurent upstairs there, went out on the balcony to view a race and got sh1t on by a flock of birds..... So he went to a server to complain and she said yeah thats why no one goes out there.

Has anybody’s on here actually watched the racing from there this year after the track alterations?
Far better than the previous velodrome....long straights, far less trouble. Is it just a habit to moan on here, getting more like Greyhound Scene everyday!

Us old uns remember the good old days, but they aint coming back!! Sad what has happened but at least we still have racing and I am grateful for that, whatever way you look at it, we still have the great race so bring it on.

Go racing ....its not about the track alterations. There were basic problems in terms of getting there and having a good time going Greyhound Racing. All looked very glossy on RPGTV but in reality I would guess 25% to 50% came away thinking wouldnt bother next time.

Just my opinion track is no better after second alteration. I stay northampton. If u get a train to northampton its under £6 to premier in swan street. Lots of pubs resturants. All firms represented on main square. Cab to track is £30. Make sure you get driver to come an pick u up afterwards. U dont want to get stuck out there.
I was 2 night in prem inn with breakfast £87.48 total.

I prefer the boxes where they are now rather than on the bend
also track is a little narrower but comparing 2018 with 2020 seems like most of it has gone from the outside
inside configuration looks pretty similar to my eye
and the weird stacking they have at the last bend still occurs
sure I remember ps saying they are bound by the welfare regulations to have a minimum arc radius so there's little they can do to rectify that

its alright having graded but when you got faster dogs ie derby class it's completely different to the 1st bend but its only my opinion but to be honest dont give a fck about the derby but the safety i do i will stick to my graded dogs still plenty of fish swimming in the sea they are getting smaller but with so many races more ricks good hunting in 2021 people

Agree with Dept , sadly the Golden Era is now a distant era , and the track does look better ,The puppy derby business looked ok to me ,With a very decent winner that for some reason is not in any AP Markets

Surprising has a sprained wrist i believe case. That maybe y he isnt in betting.

Talked with a very good friend of mine doc. As good a judge as theres ever bin imo. Said exactly the same as you put forward. The huge difference btwn graded an open class dogs going round gaff. Hope your well pal.

The trouble all derby tracks have had over compared to Shelbourne imo is track width. They get to stride out over there and you can see their natural pace. I know the books don’t want clean racing and it makes it very tricky when deciding a venue. At least they have room to gallop at Towcester. But the points raised are fair, I wonder if they have any time to make a few tweaks etc? Gotta get behind it though lads.. as the demise of the derby is the end of greyhound racing!

I emailed Kevin Boothby regarding the side view camera angle asking if it could be changed to a more closer, higher, head on  view? Fair play he came back to me within the hour saying they would review it along with the reintroduction of Towcester TV.
Any suggestions to improve things from him a line as I say unlike most in this game, he takes an interest and replies.
Only chance we have got imo with a dog man in charge to take the game forward. Don’t see the problem with the track myself, straights decent and bends improved. Hopefully get a proper 3/4 day a week SIS contract and kick on!

100% wonders.

However, it is beholden on the greyhound community to now get fully behind Towcester and ensure any criticism is of the constructive variety and not because of previously held biases. The proof will be in the outcome, so don’t prejudge it.

Part of the allure of Towcester is in the huge potential of the site which appeals to the massive section of the greyhound public who are sick of making excuses for the sport and want to scream out ‘look at us’.
