Calvert, who is responsible for 85 dogs at his Houghton-le-Spring kennels and is affiliated to Sunderland Greyhound Stadium, trains Amarillo Slim, the second-favourite for this evening's six-dog showdown. Was then Nailed to the Floor in a following race 2006 The NGRC announce that they are investigating the performances of two open race runners following discussions with Betfair. Sunderland trainer Graham Calvert admits that the enquiries relate to two of his greyhounds, Delwood Senior and Amarillo Slim, who were both beaten favourites. Not sure about the family history ph but as you say they do have form. It was sick what he did to Amarillo Slim, went from finishing 2 lengths 3rd to Westmead Hawk and Mineola Farloe in the Derby to a few months later drifting from well odds on to odds against in a minor Sky televised open after being laid for fortunes on here. Walked out as if he'd had been nailed to the floor as nanny pointed out. It was well known he was making fortunes on the dogs before his addiction took over and he started punting on literally anything. Had something like £360,000 on a losing Ryder Cup bet that was the biggest golf bet ever at the time if I remember correctly. Was putting £50,000 cash bets on in the North East betting shops no questions asked was ridiculous

The history .....
debbie calvert, sister of the infamous graham, and daughter of graham senior SUNDERLAND GREYHOUND EXPERT14 Nov 11 There is officially no Mr Calvert up here, just Debbie training,Mam banned, Dad banned, brother banned. In 2008, a greyhound trainer called Graham Calvert sued William Hill after he lost £2m through his telephone betting account even after he had completed self-exclusion with the company. He lost: the judge – and then a Court of Appeal – ruled that although William Hill had failed in its duty of care, he was likely to have gambled the money away with another operator in any case. |

The questions that this throws up are important to the sport.
Has Debbie been treated fairly and evenly in the light of the so called "history" ? I can't see how she could have been. |
