I run a syndicate. We have 6 shares and some of them shared. There are nine members in total. Six members are new to greyhound ownership. We spent £3,000 for a Springbok dog (who couldn't fecking jump!). So it was £500 a share and around £35 per month minus prizemoney. The dog got injured and and has been retired. The members said they happily pay more for the next one. So, in my experience it is a good way of getting new owners into the sport.

Not the greatest of adverts Catford, if you don't mind me being frank. Best of luck though. Mark Wallis has been doing that same agreement for about five years now - monkey up front and 30 p.m.

Syndicates are like business partnerships - they just about always fail in one way or another. irish's point a clear example. Always take the money - just ask a major Irish owner, trainer and breeder!
I joined one a few years back, which looked absolutely gold-plated until one day the manager decided, for us all and with no consultation, to buy a mature and experienced dog as opposed to the young dogs and pups/saplings agreed. Clearly an old pals act. Then again then,....bye bye. Thankfully, through some good fortune, I'd recouped my input. |
