Bit of topic wedge apologies. I,m 59. Owned my first dog at 14. So bin an owner 45 yrs. In that time i,ve always owned 1 or 2 sometimes more. Last couple o yrs i,ve sponsored a puppy comp at newcastle. Was a kennelhand best part 30 yrs. Loved evry minute. Sorry for hijack.

I always wanted to own one when I was younger but couldn't afford it and now I can there would be hardly anywhere to run it as I would find it too difficult to get to either Belle Vue or Sheffield with no transport. By the way I wouldn't consider Kinsley at all.

Im under 40 and dont.

Its selfish but I like not love the game and it serves a purpose for me at this moment in time.

Its provided a decent profit the last 2 years, after being a loser for a few before , but currently at the stakes I play, owning a dog outright just doesn't interest me, more practical things in life at the moment to put money toward.

-Quite far to my nearest track to watch it run.
-Very very little chance about seeing any decent ROI (not that I would expect that if i did one one)
-Honestly would get very little buzz about it winning a dross race at an empty track.

Wrong side of 40.. Had a few when I was the right side.
Still own a few, all in small syndicates , A couple of decent ones and had a couple of good ones in the past. 

Absolutely zero interest in getting any more once the current crop are rehomed.

58 own a few in 2 small syndicates. Walked them most Sundays until this lockdown started.
My son 28 also in syndicate he's keen to stay involved but its open racing we are really interested in but obviously get graders along the way but without open racing we will not stay involved once current racers were retired and homed.

An idea i would lean towards is grade every dog at the start of the calendar month.

Lets say you have 36 A5 dogs attached to the track that are fit.

Top two win the normal dire prize money they usually would do but at-least into the next round of the A5 comp.

Then 2 races acting as semi finals with all the qualifiers in.... 6 qualify from that for a final...winner of this round gets a little more than the 1st round ...

Then a final with a cash incentive to win it, not loads, but something worth having...double upgrade to the winner and downgrades for 1st round losers or something like that....

Maybe a floored plan...but just serve up anything apart from the 12-14 race dross cards all 2 and 4 bends...all terrible prize money.....make people want to tune in next week.

Casemoney has hit the nail on the head with regard to where a dog ends up after it's racing days are over. The welfare issue has to be most important part of responsible greyhound ownership as we have all seen the untold damage done to the integrity of the sport by unscrupulous owners.
