I meant to say they will be INDUSTRY SP like paddy powers do on a regular basics.A sp should come from the greyhound track and not from sum fella in a office a thousands miles away. This is a joke in my mind

Why would you have bookmakers at tracks with no punters
By:
Why would bookmakers stand at tracks knowing they wont be taking any money
By:
Who would pay bookmakers to stand at a track
By:
For the SiS Meetings u need a minimum of 3 bookmakers at the greyhound tracks to return prices and from what I hear, the best 2 prices are returned, now u have one guy in a office controlling it, the betting game as we speak is over. Yes I know there is no public allowed into the tracks, there is no one stopping a trainer having a bet, on a average 10 race card, you have 60 dogs running. That means 60 men or women have brought their dogs into the track, they is no one stopping them having a bet but now that will be all stopped. The greyhound game as we speak will be finished.

By:
It wont be one guy returning the sp.
By:
we had no track bookmakers doing them just before the lockdown went ok
By:
providing the people returning the SP dont take the p**s with a high percentage it wont really matter.
By:
around 128 they should bet to
By:
track bookmakers have never done punters any favours in the past so it cant be any worse
By:
certain tracks yes some track bookmakers got pleasure out of cutting dogs that are 4.6 on here for 2 pound 3t1 into 11t4 glad to see them go

The industry model that will be using Betfair prices does exactly that Doc......cuts the price of there is £2 waiting on Betfair, far worse and quicker than a track Popeye cutting it.....the show will be 10 times worse than SIS reporting back on an average 2/3 bookmakers........and if they bet to 128% it will be a disgrace Bering in mind the machine is doing it all for them at 101%
Trust me it will be much worse than it was before lockdown.....why else would they embracing it with open arms. Only consolation will be if the spineless G/C day to them if you want to use these prices then there will be a minimum liability that you lay, otherwise get out! |
By:
they will go be the early moves with firms for a start but then it will depend when they send the 1st show out 8 mins before the race i settle for that all day long
By:
if u cant get a bet with a bookmaker it will make no difference as we are all on here, early prices will still be there for people fortunate or unfortunate enough to have an account.(whichever way u look at it ).
By:
yes but the early's show moves can be bo11ocks which helps IF you can get on in the shops when they open

1st of all there is no Betfair in irish SIS greyhound Tracks. The firms like bet 365 and paddy powers that are pricing up the morning prices are a disgrace, they bet u €50 and the price is halved and ure after marking there card for peanuts. The game is finished.

By:
Some good points here lads but whats it going to do to the S P ? Best model would be the Australian way wouldnt it?

I agree irish. Its getting it implemented. Thats for people with a higher pay grade than me. I,ve no interest wotsoever in s.p. they can and will return wotever they like. For sure it wont be in punters favour. Bookmakers do wot they like unchecked in our industry. Imo that will never change. Its always bin about the early prices for me. If there were no early prices i,d retire. Depending on who goes biggest price in the morning determines how much i can bet. Say i want a grand on a dog. I make it evns n i can bet 7/4. I will bet 7/4 6/4 n 5/4. Sometimes i will be able to get it all on. Others i might only get 3 or 4 hundred on. I will wait n c if i can get the rest or little bit more on machine. If 3 or 4 hundreds all i can get i,m quite happy. U just av to adjust ur mind an accept wot ur offered. Its not like 30 yrs ago wen u could go to counter an av a bet on a dog. Hope evry1,s keeping well.

I back the outsiders more than anything , i am wondering if we are going to see average prices go higher for the rags, and to pay for it ,go tighter at the other end of the market.
By:
would love to know the last time anyone in the uk went to a track and got value from a bookie
over what you could get on the machine |
By:
Irish.....the front three will be cramped up and the outsiders will be bigger, that's how it was when on course bookies were surgically removed before lock down!
By:
Africa, out of interest, what were your other two posts on here in the near ten years since you joined the forum?
Have you migrated from greyhoundscene? |
By:
I just fell out of love for the game.
By:
Fair enough.
Not many falling back in love with it just now. |
By:
I've been a regular race punter at the Munster tracks for years, I loved going to thurles and curraheen in the good times, great atmosphere there and great gambling. There was great bookies over the years like mick o driscoll, diarmid Coffey and Pat Ryan and Michael Meade, I often went to shelbourne park for the big nights and had sum lumpy bets wit ted hegarty and bernard barry. Does days are well gone now but the taught of Industry Sps makes me sick and having no bookies at tracks will make the places like ghost areas.I understand the greyhound game is a dying trade but if this happens, THE SHOW WILL BE OVER FOREVER.

My fear now with skybet being swallowed up we will av less n less firms offering earlies. I can c betfair wen evrything is back up and running adjusting comissions. With the fobt money now a thing of the past keep a close eye on betfair accounts. I will bet diamonds winners will be asked to pay more pretty quickly or do u think i,m being cynical.
By:
They cant put PC up surely.
2 to 3 percent I dont think would receive too much grief? I was paying 3.5 for years. |
By:
Swaddle was only recently we had the chance to go back to 2%. It didnt take to long b4 i got bumped up. My fear with the fobt money going is if ur a good winner on machine u will pay the price.

Look out side the box

like everythink going be more of nightmare than allready is

When we eventually get through all this we will discover that things are never going to be the same again and we shall just have to adapt.
By:
This is going to be a good thing
Plenty of edges will come up Love to know whats happening on the tracks Management wont want bowser , harrow , tractors working Wont pay staff to maintain track Any ideas on the effect on track bias over there ? Probably be different at each track When there have been no maintenance or racing for 8 weeks |
By:
Industry prices already been used for all US racing for months, and it works very well.

What tracks have been informed that Bookmakers will not required at bags meetings iF they dont have to attend bags meetings, will they have to pay tracks to attend evening meetings.
